Random ramblings cuz I have nothing better to do... or something... :)
This is the site formerly known as Anneke's Haven. Within, you will find information about my previous White Wolf chronicles, and other random gaming related stuff. I also have a blog here, where I talk about pretty much everything and anything, though it's primarily about my exciting life... the definition of exciting definitely being up for debate.
Enjoy your visit, and come back soon!
I found a nifty thing on IMDB... release dates... :)
"28 Days Later" comes out June 27th
"League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" comes out July 11th
Both of these happen to be non-Sabbat Fridays... ROCK ON! :)
::..::
Side note... :)
On my way to the staff lounge on the 6th floor, I walk past a cart full of books to be shelved. One of the books is "C for Dummies"... why is it that every time I see this book, I think to myself "C is for Dummies, that's good enuf for me"? :)
I think kids are basically retards... --Adam Carrolla, on Loveline
Why am I thinking I got that quote wrong... it just doesn't sound right now... or maybe you needed the context to make it better... *shrug*...
ST meeting last night went well enough... I have to get back in the habit of remembering to take notes on my laptop... doing so is a good thing... :)
Doing something tonight... dunno what... maybe going out, but I doubt that... we're anti-social gamer types... we would much rather stay in and be geeky... :)
Game tomorrow night... while I'm generally okay with the whole being an ST thing, it's a little more difficult when I'm actually thrown in to doing something... I have a bad tendency to question my judgment and my knowledge of the rules... I've apparently verified one rule twice this week, by asking Gabe about it... *sigh*... gotta get my STing confidence back! I suppose it would be helpful if everyone knew that I really am an ST... a lot of people seem to not realize this yet... even though this will be my third game as an ST... *sigh*...
Well, I just made some updates to my assorted pages... nothing that you'll see, probably, unless you're super observant. The majority of it was to get rid of links to my E-mail address... I get entirely too much spam on my main account, and anything that I can do to get rid of said spam would be a very good thing... so I'm sorry that it's not super convenient to E-mail me, but if you're clever (which I'm sure you are) you'll be able to do so still... :)
And, as a side note, "Fight Club" is a difficult movie to fall asleep to... the sound is too jarring... you get almost to sleep, and then either the music or the dialogue wakes you back up... :(
Then again, neighbors who stay up late (read: past about 10:30) also make it hard to go to sleep...
Mozart, on the other hand, is good to go to sleep to... :)
Why is it that weekends frequently make me near dead?! That's both odd and annoying... :(
Well, let's see here... Saturday, Gabe's nephew and I went through two entire cans of silly string... but it was fun... and I finally got Superstar, which runs on my computer like a dream... Saturday night, went shopping with Cindy and Jea9 before game, and got three new pieces of clothing for just over $9... not bad, really! Then game, which was kewl... got to see Steve, Jenny, Seth, and Jim, who I hadn't seen since March... unfortunately, they didn't have much fun, but it was still good seeing them... and getting my books back from Jim, finally... ;)
Sunday, played around with Superstar, then went to Gabe's parents for dinner... massive quantities of really good food... I even ate fish and LIKED it! After that, got to play with action figures with Gabe's nephew... I have to get used to playing action figures with a 3 year old... I don't know when my guys are supposed to be "dead," or what they're allowed to do... it's a completely different world... :)
Monday, went to Thor and Cindy's to barbeque, drink, and otherwise slack off all day... we played Trivial Pursuit, which I won... though I was being told for most of the game "would you just hurry up and win already?" Not my fault I got 3 pie pieces in one turn, and then couldn't land on another one to save my life! :) They also made the mistake of not giving me an orange question for my final question... hehehe... :)
So then I woke up yesterday, feeling sick, so I stayed home... Gabe got his new video game, so we just sat around and played games most of the day...
Now I'm feeling much better... and it's already Wednesday?! Must remember to do influence tonight!!!!!
Right... the Friday Five is of little to no interest this week...
I don't have End of the Work Week Wisdom either...
I really don't have much to say at all today... :)
I might go get Superstar tomorrow, though probably not... I'm hoping it's warm enough to break out the squirt guns... otherwise Gabe's nephew and I will be spraying silly string all over Gabe's parents' yard... :) Either way, he'll finally get to play with my Spiderman web shooter, if he's able to make it go... I have small hands, and I was having trouble using it; he's 3. Should be interesting, I suppose... :)
I want to see "Donnie Darko," cuz everyone keeps talking about it... damn them...
ST meeting went fine last night, though I'm against holding them outside when we can see our breath in front of our faces... at least I had a jacket on, though... :) Game on Saturday will be interesting as always... :)
Now it's Thursday, and there's still not much to report... :) My life is relatively boring... :)
Gabe started watching "Saving Private Ryan" last night, but I just went to sleep... I think I was awake(ish) for most of the opening scene (which is the only part of the movie I've ever seen), but then I was asleep...
Got an ST meeting tonight (BTW, Shannon, if you're reading this, make sure Phil knows that we have a meeting... :) )... hopefully it won't be too painfully long, cuz Gabe will be really bored if it does run long... though hopefully some of the other non-STs-who-are-somehow-attached-to-STs will be around to hang out... :)
Wednesday is a good day... it means the week is halfway over... yay for Wednesday! :)
Nothing much to report... other than if you mix the "Cappucino" and "Milk Chocolate" flavors of Carnation Instant Breakfast, it tastes kinda like a cold mocha... yummy... but so bad for me... which is probably why it's so yummy! :)
The one game that Gabe has bought for his PS2 continues to amuse him... which is good, seeing as he beat it the day after he bought it. I, on the other hand, am avoiding buying The Sims: Superstar, because I'm afraid that some of the hacked objects that I've downloaded won't work with the game, and I'm not sure I want to play without the hacked objects... :) Cuz I'm lazy, and they make the game so much easier... :) Then again, even if I do get rid of the 4 (or so) blatantly hacked objects, I still can't be absolutely sure that some of the lesser hacked objects might not cause problems... so it's no good, cuz I don't want to give up all of my faerie stuff either! Or the countless skins I've got now... *sigh*...
Right, wrestling was on last night... and there were six matches or something... I don't really know, because it was more or less a backdrop to everyone chatting about a variety of things (mostly game, of course)... :)
We've been watching "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" before going to sleep lately... if you haven't seen it, you really should. It's an AWESOME movie... very funny, and pretty cute too! :)
Not much else going on, other than the rain... hopefully today will be the last day of rain, however... *crossing fingers*...
1. This seems to be the year for movie sequels (Terminator 3, Matrix Reloaded, 2 Fast 2 Furious, LOTR: The Return of the King, etc.). Is there a movie you would like to see Hollywood make a sequel to? Hmmm... well, I would have liked to have seen a GOOD sequel to "The Crow," but that didn't happen... I'm still hoping for one of those, I guess... :)
2. What movie sequel do you think should never have been made? Where should I start? Any sequel to any Stephen King movie (i.e. Pet Semetary, Carrie, Sometimes They Come Back, Children of the Corn)... and, I'll continue to wish that "The Crow: City of Angels" had never been made... :)
3. Are there any books (comic, novel, etc.) that you would like to see made into a movie? Who should star in it?Sandman, in one form or another, needs to become a movie... Fairuza Balk would be perfect as Death, and I wanna play Delirium... :)
4. When was the last time the you got a shot at the Doctor's office? Do you prefer them in the arm or your backside? Or would you rather just take a
prescription? Lately, most of the "shots" I've gotten have been finger pricks... I really hate those, especially when they insist on putting them in my right hand... it makes it hard to write for a few days after that... let alone type...
5. Do you make friends easier in "Real Life" or online or is it about the same? Do you have closer friendships in "Real Life" or online? Why do you think that is? Are you ok with that or would you like to make a change? Real life, definitely... I'm rarely online to chat, it's usually just to check E-mail, take care of game stuff and update my blog and such...
6. When you first got your drivers license how did you feel? Did you get it on the first try, second, third, more than that? Do you have a license? If
no, do you plan to get one? Why or why not?(by Rebecca) I got my license about 2 months after I turned 16. I passed on my first try, but only by a point... then again, none of my siblings passed on their first try, so I'm pretty proud of that... :) Don't really remember how I felt, but I guess I was pretty happy about it... was nice to be able to drive myself places... :)
7. Have you ever had your tonsils removed? Did you ever come close? Tell me about that. Nope... don't think I've come close, either...
::..::
In other news, games on Friday and Saturday were both good. I took a nap at game on Friday, though... and we didn't arrive till late on Saturday... but, nonetheless, both games were good. I got to run a small-ish combat on Saturday night, and I did okay... it helped that I had another ST (from another game) out there, and a former ST from our game helping out. I just stood there in my Trinity outfit and fuzzy slippers (cuz my boots were killing me), and yelled stuff... :) I think I only ran two rounds, anyway... so it wasn't difficult at all... :)
Gabe's brother's wedding went well. I didn't see much of it, as I was helping out with the ringbearers and such, but it was still really nice. Got to meet a bunch of his family, of whom I have probably forgotten half of their names... :)
And we finally got to see "The Matrix Reloaded" last night... I loved it... :) And the new theatre we got in C-dale is pretty nice too... stadium seating is kewl... :) Then, after the movie, I sat through the entire end credits on the edge of my seat, waiting for the preview for "The Matrix Revolutions"... *sigh*... it was rather disappointing, honestly. They could have done better, I think... then again, there's six more months to show previews, so I guess they're waiting to show the good ones later. :)
As for previews I saw that look good, I think "Finding Nemo" will be cute... probably we'll wait for it on video, though... "Terminator 3," I can wait for video, if at all... "Freddy vs. Jason," no thanks, I'll pass... "Kill Bill," definitely gonna see that... "The Last Samurai," we'll have to see when it comes out, and what other movies come out around the same time... it'll probably wait for video tho...
I think that was all the previews... the nice thing, at least, was no commercials before the movie... just previews! :)
1. What drinking water do you prefer -- tap, bottle, purifier, etc.? Although many people complain about the water in C-dale, I don't mind it... so generally tap water, cuz it's the most convenient...
2. What are your favourite flavor of chips? It's a toss-up between Ruffles Sour Cream & Cheddar and Lays Salt & Vinegar. I've been craving the latter for the past few days, but the former (along with Cherry Coke) is the second-breakfast of champions... from when I was getting my master's... I would eat before going to teach at 7:30 a.m., and then when I finished my office hours (around 10 or so), I would go find Emily, and we'd eat chips and drink soda... it was second-breakfast for me, though just plain breakfast for her, most of the time... :)
3. Of all the things you can cook, what dish do you like the most? I don't do much cooking really, so I'd have to say pizza spaghetti... it's regular spaghetti (sauce and noodles), but you mix pepperoni into the sauce, and put mozzerella on the top... it's tasty! :) It's really the only thing that I make almost from scratch (as opposed to out of a box / bag / freezer), so we'll go with that... :)
4. How do you have your eggs? Scrambled, with cheese in them
5. Who was the last person who cooked you a meal? How did it turn out? Well, Gabe and I both cooked dinner last night... it was a group project. We made Chicken Caccitore (which I probably spelled very wrong), and it was tasty... but we already figured out how to make it different next time, so it will taste even better... :)

In other news, I hurt. I've been moving files full of back correspondence all day long, and did the same yesterday afternoon... so my muscles ache... a bath is definitely in order when I get home tonight... good thing the rehearsal isn't till 5:30... :)
No End of the Work Week Wisdom, though, because I'm sore and tired... :(
Yay, it's Thursday... which makes tomorrow Friday... and that is a good thing! :)
The weekend will probably be crazy, but at least it promises some regular bedtimes... rehearsal for Gabe's brother's wedding on Friday night, followed by Sabbat game, then the wedding on Saturday afternoon, followed by the reception, and then we have to run to the Cam game... so crazy... but, like I said, at least it doesn't involve not getting to sleep till 3 a.m. all weekend!
Been watching "Lord of the Rings" while going to sleep lately... this is strangely reminiscent of when we tried to listen to the CDs of the BBC broadcast a while ago...
Gabe: "So I was awake until (blank)..."
Dawn: "Umm... I was awake until (much earlier blank)..."
Gabe: "So you were awake for like 5 minutes?"
Dawn: "Guess so!"
What can I say, there's a reason I can't read that book either... :)
There's a 10 p.m. showing of "Matrix Reloaded" in Marion tonight, but I'm not going... cuz it's at 10 p.m., and won't get out till super late... and would require a half hour drive home afterwards...
So yeah, I'm not going to see it till Sunday evening... keep your spoilers to yourselves... :p
Finished the first Anita Blake book yesterday, while Gabe and Thor were killing stuff on the PS2... it ends rather abruptly, IMHO... now I have to borrow #2, read it, and then I actually own 3 and 4... then it's back to borrowing them, assuming no one buys them for me... hehehe... :)
The Scary White Girl has returned from the land of the living dead! :) No, seriously... I felt like a zombie on Sunday... it had something to do with not getting to sleep till at least 3 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday morning... and getting only about 4 hours of sleep on Saturday morning... *sigh*... I guess I'm getting old... can't do the "stay up all weekend" thing anymore... :) Then again, Gabe was a zombie on Sunday as well, so maybe it's not an age thing... :)
So I'm back at work now... this upcoming weekend won't be nearly as bad, because although there are many scheduled events, they won't last nearly as late... definitely a plus! :) Still, I will probably feel like a chicken with my head cut off by next Sunday... but hopefully not a zombie... :)
I just had some random thought about instead of being a zombie, I'd be a part of summoning a zombie... definitely been reading a bit much Anita Blake lately (and remembering stuff I haven't read yet)... but it's fun stuff... and even more amusing when Catalina, Peaches, and Dani start chatting about them in game... cuz we've all read them, or been reading them... Dani is QUITE amused with what she's read... :)
1. Would you consider yourself an organized person? Why or why not? Well, I do think I'm pretty organized... but, well, just read the rest of the questions...
2. Do you keep some type of planner, organizer, calendar, etc. with you, and do you use it regularly? Yeah, I have a planner... I'm really good at using it when I'm in school, especially for keeping track of assignments... when I'm not, it just sorta sits around...
3. Would you say that your desk is organized right now? HAH! Not in the slightest! Aside from stuff that would normally be found on desks (pens, computer stuff, a few books), I can currently see a bag of bells, a coupon for Godfathers, my magic 8 ball, lip gloss, and more CDs than you can shake a stick at... and that's just the surface of my multi-level desk... At work, it's more of the same...
4. Do you alphabetize CDs, books, and DVDs, or does it not matter? I used to be very anal about that, as far as CDs and DVDs go... it's a good thing, really, cuz it makes them easier to find... but now, with CDs in 4+ locations in my apartment, it's not as big of a priority... I'm still anal about organizing my White Wolf books though... it's all by WW number... and I can tell when something is out of place... :)
5. What's the hardest thing you've ever had to organize? Dunno... I don't usually see organizing stuff as hard...
New stories from Seth! :) More Sabbat-y goodness! :) Shards of Glass, Meheeco, and The Funeral... "Meheeco" is going to be updated soon, as it lost the italics somewhere along the line... :)
Heh... this is all weird... I almost went to the Friday Five webpage to see what the questions were this week... except it's Thursday! :) I'm thinking it's Friday, though, because this is the last day I have to work this week... took Friday (and next Monday) off due to The Weekend of Insanity (part 1)... The Weekend of Insanity (part 2) is next weekend... it should be fun... :)
Watched (err... heard...) all of about 5 minutes of "Lord of the Rings" before falling asleep last night... sinus medication has a tendency to either knock me out, or make me hyper... it varies... :) But if something says "may cause excitability in children," there is a good chance of it causing excitability in ME! At any rate, my sinuses seem to be behaving themselves this morning, though I took some specifically allergy stuff for good measure... hopefully I won't fall asleep at my desk... :)
Oh, what the hell... here's some End of MY Work Week Wisdom for ya... :)
Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just, beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you. --Nathaniel Hawthorne
Just something on the cute little note paper on which my student worker wrote her schedule for finals week... :)
Nope, the tornado didn't come and get us... from what I saw on the weather before going to bed, it ended up going south of C-dale, if it even came across the river intact... our power didn't even go out, though it might have flickered briefly...
We watched "Warlock" last night... it was very 80s... and apparently not the one that we had seen the preview for... bummer, now I guess we have to find the sequel... :) I don't mind too much, though, cuz I really like Julian Sands... :)
Not much else going on at the moment... we're about to get really busy, with Gabe's brother and mom both graduating, and his brother (same one) getting married... so yeah, much insanity... at least school is over though! :) Well, over for me; Gabe still has to turn in a paper and take a final... but that's all... :)
An explanation of the "Jedi pit theory," for The Mollett...
This came about due to a highly philosophical conversation at a fine dining establishment... *cough*... okay, so we were really just wasting time and eating at Burger King... anyways, it started out that Gabe was complaining about Boba Fett dying as a result of some cheap slapstick... or, in Gabe's words, "Boba F*CKING Fett"... ;) I can explain this more later, if necessary... :)
Anyways, this evolved into a discussion of how, in all of the Star Wars movies, if a multiple number of Jedis enter a room with / near a pit, only one can emerge. Examples (with advance apologies for spelling):
Episode 1: Darth Maul, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Obi-Wan Kenobi enter a room with a pit. Qui-Gon dies, Darth Maul goes down the pit. Obi-Wan emerges.
Episode 4: Darth Vader and Obi-Wan duke it out near a pit. Obi-Wan dies; Darth Vader emerges.
Episode 6: Darth Vader, The Emperor, and Luke Skywalker in a room with a pit. The Emperor is hurled into the pit, Darth Vader lives long enough to get out of the room and take his mask off, then dies. Like emerges.
Compare these with Luke's assorted escapes from pits (including the example from Episode 6, above): Luke gets out of the pit with the Rancor, doesn't fall into the Sarlak pit, AND falls down a pit/hole in Cloud City, but only loses his hand (which, mind you, is in a battle with another Jedi...). So, since Luke is immune to the ill effects of pits on Jedis, he is the savior... :)
To all those gamer geek types who read this... if you haven't played "All Flesh Must Be Eaten" yet, you should do it! It's fun! What more could you ask for than zombie killin' goodness?! Okay, so PLAYING zombies could be kewl, but killing them is fun as well... :)
As for movies, GO SEE X-2!!!!!! It was really good... and I don't even read Marvel comics! So while I'm sure that some stuff was lost on me, it was still really fun to watch! PLUS, at least where I saw it, we got to see a preview for 28 Days Later (which appears to be a kewl ZOMBIE movie), The Matrix Reloaded (at which I could only stare with my mouth wide open), and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (which is gonna make me want to run an Adventure game!)...
As a couple of side notes, apparently "28 Days Later" came out last year... but as it's British, it must just now be getting here... and as for "The Matrix Reloaded," Aaliyah is NOT in it... they had to recast her part after she died... and Stuart Townsend is in "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"... sweet! :)
Okay, I guess that's all for the movie updates... though we've been watching "The Others" while we go to sleep lately... it's interesting the second time around... ;)
Skipping the Friday Five again... it's about music, but I just felt kinda "eh" about it...
Smackdown was good, though Thor noted that even though we get to see more matches on Smackdown, it's the same guys fighting the same guys, over and over...
As for Mr. America... hehehehe... that was kinda kewl... we initially expected Lex Luger, of course... but as the night wore on, we started being a lot more silly about it... Gabe at one point said "I hope it's not the Iron Sheik"... I thought it might be Sergeant Slaughter... at one point, we thought it might be a midget in Uncle Sam get-up... when Vince showed up and Steph was talking to him, I SWEAR she started to say "She is"... so then we thought it might be a transvestite... :) But, in the end, it was good... brother... ;)
Anyways, Jason mentioned that Miss Elizabeth died last night (which is odd, as we were talking about Macho Man last night too)... and Lex Luger got arrested at the same time (and Miss Elizabeth lived with Lex Luger)... so I found a couple of news stories about it. This one from The Charleston Post & Courier is short but good, and this one, from Slam! Sports talks more about her career and such...
In other news, I had a really good End of the Work Week Wisdom, and failed to write it down... if Gabe can remember it, maybe I'll post it later... :)
