Whee... nothing of interest today... I started and finished making my pants last night, so now I have new clothes... :) Gabe took some pictures of them when I got done with them, and hopefully he'll be able to put those on my computer today... which means pictures soon, I promise... :) And the super-easy pattern as well... :)

Going to some sort of training thing for the new equipment they put in one of the classroom buildings... I'm a quasi-tagalong, quasi-there because I'll understand what they're saying and my boss won't... :) Should be boring... :)

That's about it at the moment... I know, I lead a thrilling life... :)

Nothing much of interest to report... I'm making what will hopefully turn out to be a really groovy shirt... I've decided to use a pattern as a guideline, but basically do whatever I want with the actual construction... :) We'll see how it turns out, huh?

Gonna go buy some more fabric tonight, and then I get to try out the pattern I've created for my favorite pants in the whole world... if it works, of course I'll share them... they should be SOOOOOOOOO simple to make... 3 hems (6, really), a curved seam, and two "channels" for elastic and string... and they're super comfy... just no pockets... :(

Yeah... my exciting life... :)

Why has today seemed like SUCH a long day? Ugh!

News of the day: another new Marvel HeroClix set, due out in November... including another Wolvie, Hulk with a gun, and Silver Surfer... title for said expansion: Critical Mass...

*SWG does the happy dance*

Well, wrestling last night was pretty good... between the bunch of us, though, we called just about everything... about the only thing we couldn't figure out was who the "Frenchies" (La Resistance) were going to fight... cuz there is an absence of good tag teams on Raw lately... but Jindrak and Cade seem to be a good one, if a bit new... and with non matching trunks... :)

So it looks like I may be going to see "Freddy vs. Jason" in a couple of weeks... which will be, really, the first one of EITHER series that I've seen... yeah, I've seen most of "Dream Warriors," but I really don't remember much of it... and I've seen pieces of a few of the other movies... but I'm just not a horror movie fan... I scare far too easily... :)

Ugh... why is it only Tuesday... can't it be Thursday yet?!

Why is it that I always sit there during movies and say "I've seen that guy before"... but can't figure it out till I check IMDB...

"Munder," who was the kinda hippie looking guy in "Ghost Ship," is Karl Urban... a.k.a. Eomer... (ooh, and he's also gonna be in "Chronicles of Riddick"!)

The other guys are basically people who have been in other movies, but probably I've just seen them in the previews for those movies...

"Daredevil" comes out on DVD tomorrow! w00t! :)

Well, pretty good weekend overall... the surprise party for Thor on Friday wasn't a total surprise for him, but it was fun nonetheless... the presents Seth J. gave him were a big hit, as those little foam critters were everywhere... :)

Saturday, Gabe got "Neverwinter Nights," and spent most of the afternoon playing that... I, on the other hand, went shopping at Good Will (and got some AWESOME stuff) and then proceeded to destroy what was left of one of my old tie-dyed shirts, trying to make a cute little shirt like one of the ones I bought... next time, I think I'll actually try to cut out the pieces and do it that way, rather than just randomly sewing bits and pieces of it... :)

Sunday, aside from all the usual laundry and cleaning, we watched "Ghost Ship"... which was rather good, if a bit predictable... at any rate, it's only 90 minutes, so it's not a major waste of time or anything... :) And the little girl is suitably creepy! :)

Time for lunch!

Well, when the Friday Five is about movies, I'm like morally obligated to do it... :)

1. If your life were a movie, what would the title be? I think I've settled on "Dawn's Thrilling Life"... which is a big time joke, cuz my life probably isn't thrilling to most people... :)

2. What songs would be on the soundtrack? Gah... I can't possibly figure out every song that would be... two that I would have to have, though, would be "Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison, and "Dawn Can't Decide" by The Lemonheads... those two songs are two of MY songs... I would also tend to add "Dawn" by Stabbing Westward, but if you've ever read the lyrics... eh, I dunno...

3. Would it be a live-action film or animated? Why? I would imagine live-action, but I could see it as being a cute little cartoon, too... :)

4. Casting: who would play you, members of your family, friends, etc? Since the time I was in high school, I've been told that if someone were to play me in a movie, it would be Winona Ryder... then again, she's getting a bit older now... if she looked how she looked when she was in Beetlejuice, that would work... dunno about who could play my family... I'm sure Gabe would be happy if Stuart Townsend played him, though... :)

5. Describe the movie preview/trailer. Uhhh... well, it probably wouldn't convince people to see the movie or anything... :)

::..::

That was pretty silly, honestly...

Got a lot of work to do, so I suppose I better get on that...

I was working this morning, and twirling a pencil around in my fingers to get to the eraser end, when I remembered something odd. When I was a kid, and I needed to erase something, I had to drop my pencil, pick it up the other way, erase, then drop it again, pick it up again, and start writing again. Guess I was just very uncoordinated...

Wait... was? Am... :)

Though I don't have to drop my pencil to erase any more... :)

Ugh... lotsa work... so only a short update today... maybe more later...

Wheee... didn't do much of interest last night... I've basically just been spending most of my free time playing the original Civ computer game...

ST meeting tonight (which means it will be over at a reasonable time, in theory); wrestling tomorrow night; and then figuring out plans for Friday... gotta wait for the Nightlife to come out, though... that's tomorrow...

At the moment, sorting through photocopies of auction catalogs, getting ready to do a TON of accessioning... *sigh*... and this, on a day that I brought 4 CDs to listen to while reading microfilm... ah well... maybe I'll read some anyways... :)

Yeah, wrestling was on last night, wasn't it? Eh, I barely watched it... it was far more fun to chat with everyone... plus, I kept running back to the computer room anyway, as I was trying to track down the character sheet for my newest ghoul... I was successful in that, so go me... :)

I should probably get to work, so more later, maybe... :)

Monday Mission isn't up yet, so we'll have to see about that later...

As for movies, we watched "The Eighteenth Angel" last night... it wasn't a great movie, by any stretch of the imagination, but it was at least decent... and, to be honest, it had a better ending than I supposed it would... so at least it wasn't a waste of our time... :)

Wow, it's hard to believe that's the only movie we watched all weekend... there was much playing of Baldur's Gate by Gabe, and Civ by me, to make up for it, I suppose... :)

Now I'm at work, working, though I'm bored... :)

Yes, I'm bored... and playing around on IMDB...

"Once Upon a Time in Mexico" (a.k.a. Desperado II)... Antonio Banderas, Johnny Depp, Willem DaFoe, Cheech Marin... okay, I'm seeing nothing about this to dislike aside from Enrique Iglesias... :) (Sept. 12)

"Bubba Ho-Tep"... Bruce Campbell!!!!!!! Unfortunately, I don't think it's going to a wide release... but it should eventually hit video, right? (Sept. 26)

Uh... that one also comes out Oct. 2... so maybe the latter date will be a wide spread release... *crossing fingers*...

"Kill Bill" is Oct. 10

"Matrix: Revolutions" is Nov. 5

"Last Samurai" (Tom Cruise) is Dec. 5

"LoTR: Return of the King" is Dec. 17

And that's pretty much it for the year... so maybe it isn't quite as thin as we previously believed (especially when you toss in "Underworld" (Sept. 19), which I mentioned before)... but it's not nearly as thick as last week was... :)

Oh, and Cindy, I didn't see that dumb Harry Potter movie on there... :) Looks like there isn't one till 2004 (and then another in 2005)...

Ack! I finally figured it out! I keep seeing previews for "Johnny English" when I'm watching wrestling... no, I don't plan on seeing it... but there's a girl in the previews that looks really familiar, and I couldn't figure out who she was... turns out it's Natalie Imbruglia... so that makes a little more sense as to why she looks familiar... :)

Oh, and for those who wanted to know, "Freddy vs. Jason" comes out on August 15th... yeah... I won't be seeing that one... :)

Blech... not interested in the Friday Five this week... and I gave up on the End of the Work Week Wisdom a while ago... so no, I don't really have a whole lot to put here...

I'm pondering writing up something for the R&U contest... I know what I want to write up, it's just a matter of sorting out all of the appropriate terms and such... cuz if I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do it well... :) At any rate, I don't expect I'll win with my idea, and I dunno what I'd buy if I won anyway (you get $50 of WW products from the online store)... I suppose I could get some T-shirts, though... :)

Now, to figure out where I left my writing motivation... :)

Well, we watched "Reservoir Dogs" last night (and I just had to use spellcheck to get the spelling of "reservoir"... boy my French has failed me!)... I had never seen it before... I thought it was okay... not exactly my sort of thing, though. Tim Roth is really good in it, though... he does really well with a normal American accent, for a British guy... :)

It's frickin' cold in the office today, but I haven't thrown on my sweater yet... I have this odd feeling that the sweater (which is one of those extra long sweater/jacket things) is longer than my skirt... no wonder my legs are cold... :)

Nope, didn't really watch any movies yesterday... didn't really do a whole lot after work, actually, except work on game stuff... which isn't entirely done, but I'm getting there... :)

Still thinking about writing up an article on costuming for LARP... I've got some of it written in my head, already, now to just type it out... and then expand upon it, no doubt... :)

Eh, off to read microfilm and listen to MP3s... :)

One of the streets I have to walk across to get to work was flooded this morning... that was lovely... :)

Lots of movies this weekend...

"LXG" was awesome! Now I want to go get a copy of Adventure and run it, but I'd need to find people to play and a night to play on... *sigh*...

So that was Friday... Saturday, we watched "After Dark," which is a bunch of Type O Negative videos... with the commentary on... :) It was funny as hell... we also watched "Pulp Fiction," with the trivia mode on... also amusing... this, of course, was all while I was braiding Gabe's hair in itty-bitty braids... and unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures (and I ended up having to take it out right after game, cuz it was giving him a headache)...

Sunday, despite me having a lovely migrane, we watched "Gangs of New York"... when we saw the preview, it looked really good... but the movie itself wasn't the greatest... it was good, sure, but just sorta disappointing, over all... we also started watching "True Romance," but my migrane got really bad, and I went to bed...

So yesterday, we finished watching "True Romance"... EVERYONE in the world is in that movie... and it's really quite good... :)

Oh, and we got "Edward Scissorhands" on Sunday, and put that on last night... but I couldn't go to sleep, so we had to turn it off... :(

Anyways... here I am at work... I'm a little groggy, but it's not too bad, I suppose... got a whole bunch of game crap to do tonight, after work... joy...

Speaking of game, yes, Corin went over well enough... I've decided, though, that I still hate the Assamites, and once I'm done NPCing her, I hope to never ever play one again... :)

Added some new dolls to the Gallery... one of them is at least my basic idea of how I'm gonna dress for the NPC I'm playing soon (as in tomorrow), Corin... well, longer skirt, and a different shirt (since I don't own a shirt like the one in the picture), but yeah, that's the basic idea... though maybe sunglasses, just because...

It's been REALLY hard for me to get something figured out for her costuming... I originally was going to go with raver kid type stuff... but that isn't all that far from what Dani wears... for example, I bought a pair of black bondage pants, with olive green "trim" (the straps are olive green with black stars, and a little bit of the detailing is similar)... two weeks ago, when I was looking for something to wear to game, Gabe asked me if I wasn't wearing my new pants... which he assumed I had gotten to wear for Dani... cuz they're definitely her style... well, that (among other things) made me rethink the costuming for Corin...

The other thing that made me rethink the costuming was the fact that as I was working over the details of this NPC in my mind, I realized that she was going to end up being kinda quirky and cutesy... wait, that's what I'm already playing, in two games... Dani and Jubilee... so that, also, made me rewind my thought process a little bit...

Now I can't do entirely non-quirky, but I can at least tone it down... so I'm going to go with relatively plain looking clothing... basic colors (lots of black and white... and absolutely no purple... that's Dani's signature color...), more tailored looking stuff (knee length skirts, maybe dress pants...), etc. I can't do costuming without jewelry, so I've picked out a simple (but really pretty) choker, and a couple of those "jelly-ish" bracelets that were so popular in the 80's... the kind that you could link together... eh, I can't really describe them very well...

But I do have a feeling that I'm going to have to wear basically the same thing for her every time I NPC her... either that, or it's gonna look like I'm going to work on Saturday nights... :)

Wow... this is like the longest entry I've written in a long time, and it's not about movies... shock and surprise... :) Eh, what can I say... I like costuming for LARP... it's a lot of fun! :)

Maybe I will end up writing the article that I've been tossing around in my head... just some ideas about how to put together an effective LARP wardrobe... one that lets people know, as soon as they see you, which character you're playing... which would be infinitely helpful to those who have to play a lot of characters (like STs), or those who end up with a lot of characters... (*cough*not mentioning any names*cough*)

Friday Five time! :)

1. Do you remember your first best friend? Who was it? Katie Watson is the first one I can remember, which would have been about kindergarten... :)

2. Are you still in touch with this person? Nope... she moved to Arizona when we were in grade school (maybe around 3rd grade or so), and we wrote back and forth for a little while, but then gave that up, as we were young, and writing letters was hard... :)

3. Do you have a current close friend? Yup, Gabe is my best friend! :)

4. How did you become friends with this person? Gaming, of course...

5. Is there a friend from your past that you wish you were still in contact with? Why? I don't really know for sure... from time to time, I think it would be nice to still be in contact with some of the girls I was friends with in high school, but, at the same time, I doubt we would have much in common any more. I mean, I got to see Dana about a year and a half ago, and that was kinda kewl, but we really didn't have much to talk about, other than our jobs and such... and I guess I kinda miss hanging out with Nate, but again, I dunno how much we have in common anymore...

::..::

In other news, wrestling blew big monkey chunks last night... in the first hour, there was only ONE match, and then they reshowed the ENTIRE final match from last week... we pretty much just ignored it, and talked the whole time it was on... I suppose at least Billy Kidman is back, and I got to see him do the Shooting Star Press again, which made me happy... :)

And tonight is "LXG"... w00t! :) Can't wait!!!!

Upcoming movie:

"The Punisher"... set to be released in 2004 (I'm guessing early 2004, as the theatre already has a poster up for it)...

Starring Thomas Jane... who, despite the fact that I've seen several of the movies he has been in, don't really recognize...

Ah well... I'm not AS thrilled about this one as my friends are, but that's probably because I don't read comics, and have no clue about the Punisher... at least I had a small clue about the X-Men, and Spider Man, which is why I was able to like those movies so much... I'm planning to watch "Daredevil" after it comes out on video (July 29th), though that's only after realizing that Elektra (who I use often when playing HeroClix) is in it...

I'm just not a comics geek, in the traditional sense of the phrase... I just love me some Sandman... but, as anyone who reads Sandman can attest, Sandman is just different... Neil Gaiman is a genius... :)

So it turned out that "Pirates of the Carribean" WAS in fact playing in C-dale, so we got to go see it last night... and it was quite good... the theater was PACKED... though, amazingly, the audience didn't get all loud and obnoxious (as they often do, here in C-dale)... there were a LOT of kids there... but it makes sense, seeing as it was really a movie geared towards kids, or at least not really geared towards adults...

All of the previews, however, sucked mightily... there was one movie ("Envy") to which I said, "maybe, on video"... but how can you say no to Jack Black and Ben Stiller? :) I was thinking that maybe "The Haunted Mansion" would be okay, but then I found out Eddie Murphy is in it... yuck, no thanks... it COULD have been somewhat creepy, now it's just gonna be silly... *sigh*...

We also found out that they have really good deals on some DVDs at Wal-Mart right now... we got "Sleepy Hollow" for $10... and almost got "Edward Scissorhands" for the same price, but I was convinced that we owned that on video... turns out we don't... so we'll go back for that one soon... :)

Oh, and as a side note, I'm beginning to wonder if my printer at home only sucks because of the paper I've been giving it... I printed out some address labels (for real life) and business cards (for game), and both printed amazingly clearly... now I need to find some different paper to feed it to test my theory...

Oh... this is just great... I was hoping that maybe Kerasotes didn't have their page updated, but, on a whim, I looked at the listings for one of the theatres in Edwardsville... THEY'RE getting "Pirates of the Carribean" tonight... why the hell aren't we?

Argh... for some reason, it appears that "Pirates of the Carribean" isn't opening in C-dale tonight... this is going to make the SWG a very unhappy camper, if it ends up being true... I suppose I can check Marion... but ARGH... (and not in a good, pirate-y, way...)

That's weird, Gabe told me about a comment he left yesterday, and it didn't show up... crazy blog...

I had a really surreal moment this morning, walking to work... I'm walking down the hill behind the apartment, just minding my own business, when I notice a girl walking down the middle of the street, ahead of me, blowing bubbles... not the type of thing you expect to see at 7:30 a.m. :)

Wrestling last night was okay... everyone wanted Bret Hart to show up, but that wasn't very likely, IMHO... and I was right... :) And Mollett, I'm really thinking that if Kane is still Glenn Jacobs, then he's had part of his shins removed... because he used to be just as tall as 'Taker, and now he's barely taller than Stone Cold and Triple H... so either he shrunk, or he's not the same dude... any rate, I'm about 99% positive that it was Brian Adams under that mask for a while... now it's somebody different...

That's about all of the exciting news I have at the moment... :)

More on "Shallow Grave"... I KNEW a couple of the people in that movie looked familiar... Christopher Eccleston, who was one of the roommates, was the Army guy in "28 Days Later" (and he was also in "24 Hour Party People," though I don't remember him in that, really)... and the thug that I thought looked familiar was Peter Mullan, who was in "Session 9" (he played the head of the crew)... weird, huh? :)

So, three movies from over the weekend to mention...

The first was Slashers, which was a low budget horror (?) flick that Thor rented... it was really funny, I thought, though it made me jump a couple of times... and the music... was just far too groovy... ("Super fun!")

Then yesterday we watched Shallow Grave, which was a Ewan McGregor movie (cuz he's so darn cute!)... also rather good... though, as is often the case with lower budget British movies, the dialogue was hard to understand (accents+low audio quality)... but we understood enough of it, I suppose... :)

And the other movie yesterday was 12 Monkeys, which I hadn't seen for quite some time (and I think I only saw it once)... it was pretty much as I remembered it, though I was able to comprehend it a little better this time, I think... then again, it came out in 1995 (wow!), so I guess 8 years can make a big difference! :)

Other than that, not much going on, really... had a nice four day weekend, and now I'm back at work... need to find out what my next big project will be, because I'm a bit bored at the moment... :)

No, I'm not dead... just been rather ill lately... still not 100%, but what can ya do...

Been watching a ton of movies lately, since I've been home for the past few days...

Watched "Queen of the Damned" on Tuesday night, while trying to go to sleep... didn't get to sleep, and just got rather annoyed as I watched the movie... especially since I had been getting close to finishing reading the book of the same name earlier that day... they took HUGE liberties with the plot so that they could cram "The Vampire Lestat" and "Queen of the Damned" into the same movie... *sigh*...

Yesterday, we watched "Pulp Fiction" in the afternoon... I hadn't seen it in a while, but I still liked it lots... :) Then we watched "Star Wars" in the evening, which was fun, even if I was only halfway conscious at the time... and then Gabe put "Interview with a Vampire" on as we were going to sleep, but I fell asleep early on into that... and woke up later, I think when it was on the second run through (it's one of those DVDs that plays continuously, until you turn off the DVD player... it would have still been playing this morning...)

Now I'm finally back at work, just for the day, as tomorrow is a day off... w00t! :)

And that's about it for my thrilling life...
