This is the site formerly known as Anneke's Haven. Within, you will find information about my previous White Wolf chronicles, and other random gaming related stuff. I also have a blog here, where I talk about pretty much everything and anything, though it's primarily about my exciting life... the definition of exciting definitely being up for debate.

And now we have snow all over everything... not much, mind you, but snow nonetheless... I think it's the first REAL snow we've had this year... not bad, since we got to wait till the end of January for it... :)

Gah, it's almost February... I REALLY need to be working on my stuff for E-Con... but I'm so busy doing other stuff, that I dunno when I'll get around to doing it... at least I'm only running one game this year; unfortunately, it's Orpheus, which I'm not entirely familiar with... *sigh*...

Gabe has two Eddie Izzard DVDs waiting for him at his parent's house... and we have 1/4 inch of ice coating our entire car... waah! Actually, there's a good chance that his dad brought them to him today at work, but that remains to be seen...

Yeah, the weather here is very crappy at the moment... ice all over everything... it SHOULD melt today, but it's supposed to start snowing tonight or tomorrow... yet will be in the mid 40s by the weekend... *shrug*...

I got a small amount of genealogy information from Gabe's mom on Friday night, and have already gotten a TON more from the internet... I've discovered that a lot of Illinois counties have their early (pre-1880) censuses online, so that is making my job a WHOLE lot easier... still have a lot of stuff to go through, but that will have to wait until... probably Friday at the earliest...

Today: wrestling
Tuesday: game stuff - start writing rumors for this week's influence, work on plots, get the influence tracking stuff in place; oh, and I have to do laundry this week, as I didn't get it done Sunday, due to the ice and stuff...
Wednesday: game stuff - actually do the influence for the week
Thursday: wrestling
Friday: dunno yet...
Saturday: game
Sunday: recuperate... :)

That's pretty much what my week looks like every week... I'm rather glad that Accursed Forgotten doesn't play very often, or I'd be more insane... whee...

Thor says I need to update more, to keep him entertained... because he doesn't wanna do homework... :)

Here is an update. Is it not spiffy? :)

I don't actually have anything to say at the moment, which is why I almost never update... I'd rather say useful stuff than just go on and on about silliness...

Wait... this whole post is silliness... damn.

We went and saw "Big Fish" on Sunday night, and I was very pleased with it. It's not quite your average Tim Burton movie, but you can still tell he was involved (and that his old buddy Danny Elfman was as well).

I think my favorite part of the movie was the final voice-over by the son (Billy Crudup) talking about his father. I know I don't remember the quote exactly, but it was talking about how a man lives through his stories, and when his stories are told after he has died, that's how he achieves immortality.

I really liked that idea, because although it applies to storytelling on a grander scale, I'd like to think it also applies to storytelling on a gaming scale as well (especially as White Wolf uses the term "Storyteller" as opposed to "game master"). Gamers are notorious for "war stories" (a.k.a. stories of past games), and in a way, those stories are really a tribute to the storyteller and the story that he or she created with the help of his or her players... :)

So here's to a bunch more "war stories" emerging from my current game... which, BTW, is going well so far! :)

I haven't done the Friday Five in a long time, but it's not too bad this week...

1. What does it say in the signature line of your emails? My main E-mail and work E-mail = nothing. My Dani E-mail has info about the game, and I have a sneaking suspicion that my Forgotten E-mail does too... which I should fix... or just make a different ST account... :)

2. Did you have a senior quote in your high school yearbook? What was it? If you haven't graduated yet, what would you like your quote to be? Hmm... I think I might have had one, but I can't remember if they actually printed mine or not. Some people got theirs printed, and some people (like the ones with lots of activities) didn't... since I fell into the latter category, I probably didn't. I have this odd suspicion, however, that if I did choose one at that time, it was probably "Last but not least, I wanna say peace and we outta here" which is a quote from (I think) an NKOTB song... how embarrassing... :)

3. If you had vanity plates on your car, what would they read? If you already have them, what do they say? I would love to be able to do Scary White Girl, but I can't get that down to 6 letters and still have it be intelligible. DED GRL # would also be an acceptable choice... :) But as it is, Gabe has the Vamp Mobile, with BLDSKR... which, for those unknowing, is Bloodsucker, not Bald Sacker, Bald Skater, or anything else crazy like that... :)

4. Have you received any gifts with messages engraved upon them? What did the inscription say? I probably have, somewhere along the line, but it's not ringing any bells right now. Actually, I think I may have a silver napkin ring from a play that I was in, with the information about the play (title and run dates) engraved on it... but I'm not positive it was engraved...

5. What would you like your epitaph to be? No really good ideas for this one... I'd probably go with a song lyric, but that's not necessarily a good idea... I would change my mind about a million times before it was necessary to have an epitaph, and then it would eventually be outdated... *shrug*...

In other news, my left shoulder hurts. It's almost to the point where it radiates far enough down my back to make sitting painful... we'll see how this goes... I don't want to be in pain at game tonight... *grumble*...

In other other news, the place we looked at last night rocks... if I could only find someone to sublease from us for the summer, we could almost definitely snag it... as it is, there's a chance she will find someone willing to take it before May (the earliest we can feasibly move, if we have to pay rent on both places concurrently), and then we can't have it... *pout*...

And in the final news (for now), "Gehenna" is out... blah. I'm not thrilled with it, though it is pretty and shiny and has nice cover art... Gabe already found the requisite typo... I'm sure there are plenty more where that one came from... *grumble*...

Yes, I am a slacker... well, at least in regards to posting here... I've been spending most of the week calling around to various landlords, looking for a new place to rent (only cuz our current place is TOO TINY!), and working... and not being sick, which is a plus... :)

We got "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" and "Velvet Goldmine" last night (had to order them from Amazon, as they're not to be found in the local movie selection)... watched the latter, which I really like... :)

Lotsa game this weekend, including the premier of The Crystal Tower, which is my new game... I'm nervous and excited at the same time... I think we've got a really good thing set up, now it's just a matter of making it roll... :)

Okay, I just did my sweep of IMDB for the year 2004, to see what "must see" movies are coming out this year...

My list is long... and this is only a preliminary list, as most movies that will come out towards the middle to end of this year aren't given release dates yet...

Without further ado... :)

"Big Fish" - Jan. 9... it's a Tim Burton movie, with Ewan McGregor in it... explain to me how I can NOT see this one? :) The story sounds cute as well... it's about a guy trying to piece together his father's life through the stories his father told... Ewan plays the father as a young man...

"The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra" - February 6... Gabe downloaded the preview for this... it's hilarious... it's basically made to be like a bad 50s B horror movie... :)

"Kill Bill: Vol. 2" - February 20... except this would mean I'd need to see the first one... :)

"Hidalgo" - March 5... I'm not sure I'll see this in the theater... but it's Viggo Mortensen, and the preview at least looks pretty good... this is the horse movie, for those who are wondering... :)

"Dawn of the Dead" - March 19... this is not something I want to see... this is merely on the list for the boyz... it's the remake (obviously)...

"Jersey Girl" - March 19... a new Kevin Smith! Starring Ben Affleck, of course, but still... it's Kevin Smith!

"Hellboy" - April 2... staring Ron Perlman as Hellboy... ummm... yeah... okay... I've never read Hellboy, I just know what the HeroClix looks like...

"The Punisher" - April 16... though the boyz are unenthused... you know we'll go see it...

"Van Helsing" - May 7... vampire movie (obviously), as well as Hugh Jackman! What's not to like?

"Troy" - May 21... forgive me as I turn into a quivering mass of goo... the trireme scene alone is worth my $6!

"The Chronicles of Riddick" - June 11... the sequel (prequel?) to "Pitch Black"... story? Eh, who knows... Vin Diesel and kewl looking CGI... :)

"Spider-Man 2" - July 2... hafta see it... to me, it looks like it will be the one good comic movie this year!

"King Arthur" - July 7... I didn't know this was coming out, but Keira Knightly as Guinevere! Yummy!

"Blade: Trinity" - August 13... another one that I hadn't heard a thing about... but Parker Posey is in it! Oddly, the description sounds like Gehenna... maybe WW's lawyers should get on that... (oh wait, they probably will...)

"Constantine" - September 17... apparently they've decided to rename Hellblazer... *ponder*... great, so we'll name the movie the dude's last name... even though we've decided to change the character to the point where he isn't really the comic character...

"J.M. Barrie's Neverland" - October 8... this is the one where Johnny Depp plays Barrie... IMHO, it's gonna be better than this "Peter Pan" thing that's out now...

"Tortured Souls: Animae Damnatae" - October 31... this is all for Thor... based on the novella by Clive Barker, written to go with the Todd McFarlane figs... kewl, eh?

"The Phantom of the Opera" - December 24... NOT the musical version (as best as I can tell)... and starring Gerard Butler, who played Dracula in Dracula 2000... hmmm... intriguing, at least... :)

How odd... within the past few days, people have come to my site by looking for my name and for the name of a friend of mine that I haven't seen/talked to in ages...

So if you were the person looking for me or the friend in question, drop me a line... especially if you happened to find him! :)

Still not much going on in my world... it's gotten amazingly cold in the course of the past two days, to the point where breathing was very painful by the time I got into the library this morning... and that's with a hat, thick scarf, good coat, gloves, a nearly-thermal shirt, and reasonably thick pants (and knee socks). Then again, I did have a heavy bag of LARP books with me, so I suppose that might have slowed me down a little... :)

Speaking of LARP, 11 days till mine begins... I'm ready... just waiting on the players to be ready, now... :)

Hmmm... this and the last post are new, cuz the last one didn't post for some odd reason... :(

I'm back. :) Christmas break was very nice, I got lots of neat stuff, and everyone liked all of the stuff that I made and got for them... and, because I'm old (according to Gabe), I've already started working on cross stitches for next year... or for something... cuz you can never have too many little cross stitched things lying around, right? :)

I vaguely want to learn to knit or crochet this year, but I dunno if I will... Gabe says that would make me even more of an old person... :)

In the meantime, though, I'm working on genealogy again... I've got most of mine taken back as far as I can until I can get to a good library (like Madison) again... I want to work on Nathaniel's, but haven't yet... and I'm gonna work on Gabe's as well, cuz I'm pretty close to all dead ends with Nathaniel's... so three basic families, but it's really so much more than that... :)

I did get another one of my German lines back to the 1600s, which made me pretty pleased... as with all of the internet searching, I can't be 100% sure on it, but it looks pretty good... :)
