Random ramblings cuz I have nothing better to do... or something... :)
This is the site formerly known as Anneke's Haven. Within, you will find information about my previous White Wolf chronicles, and other random gaming related stuff. I also have a blog here, where I talk about pretty much everything and anything, though it's primarily about my exciting life... the definition of exciting definitely being up for debate.
Enjoy your visit, and come back soon!

*gasp*... updating more than twice a month? Never... :)

We went to Nashville on Saturday, which was loads of fun... we went last year, and I had fun on the trip, and possibly more fun this year, as Draino was there, and the three of us (Gabe, myself, and Draino) talked to two of the girls Gabe knows pretty much the whole trip... so the drive down and back didn't seem nearly as long as last year! :)

And now Gabe has a coloring book of pictures of ancient Greece... cuz you NEED a coloring book like that... I almost bought ancient Greek paper dolls... well, depicting ancient Greeks; the paper dolls themselves were not old... :)

Not much else going on in the world of the SWG... LARP, genealogy, and crocheting are all going along smoothly as can be... my afghan, in particular, is shaping up nicely, and I think I may have it done in time for it to be useful... but I really need to rethink my crafting seasons... I should work on cross stitch when it's hot, and crochet when it's cold... then the crochet can help with the warmth, rather than making me hot!

Let's do this in an orderly fashion, shall we?

LARP
The game is going well, though crazy as all get out at the moment... we don't have game this Saturday, as Gabe and I are going to Nashville, and won't get back till about 7 or so... we need to have an ST meeting before the next game, but I think I will have to call the boyz and tell them when the meeting will be, as none of them seem to check their E-mail...

Genealogy
Got the stuff from Gabe's grandpa, which wasn't much going back, but there was a lot of stuff on the descendants of one couple. So it was pretty useful.

I'm thinking now that it's time to start looking into immigration records, to figure out when all of these German people on his side and mine came to America. Oddly enough, despite the fact that my thesis was on German immigration, I've done very little with ship records and the like. So this will all be rather new to me...

Crochet
I've figured out a few things...

1) Granny squares and varigated yarn don't work so well together
2) Granny squares in general rather annoy me
3) I like hats... hats are easy... :)

At the moment, I'm working on a messenger bag (getting there!) and a second hat... my first hat turned out well, but I realized that the really thick yarn I used has something to do with why it's so stiff... so I'm using a much thinner, lighter weight yarn for the second one, so that it should have less structure to it, which is exactly what I'm looking for.

I was going to do an afghan made of many squares, all pieced together (kinda like a quilt), but seeing as the granny square thing isn't working, and it takes a long time to make one 12 inch square (and I'm wanting a MINIMUM of 15 squares), I think I'm gonna try a ripple blanket instead... they seem relatively easy, at least... :)

And probably more hats... I like them a lot... :)

And that's about it... :)

So for those who were keeping track...

The Orpheus game went fairly well... I had mostly very good players (only one exception to that)... and though we were generally all unfamiliar with the rules and powers and such, we did okay... I messed up how Spectres should be run, but it was forgivable (and, given the time constraints, probably a very good thing... :) )...

Edge has returned to RAW, but all he's done thus far is speared Bischoff and Kane... w00t! :) He's looking good, though, as though he's gotten a lot of time in the gym... his chin is still big, a fact that Gabe likes to keep pointing out... :)

Oh, my birthday has come and gone, yippie... it hasn't really, in a way, as my party is this weekend... because of E-Con, we had to put it off celebrating it until people would actually be able to get together... so yeah... ummm... Mom got me a gift card for a variety of restaurants, and Megan brought me a pen... but that's pretty much it, thus far... :)

And apparently I'm a freak because I want yarn for my birthday... :) But I really don't need more clothes, and there is very little stuff that I don't just buy for myself when I want it (DVDs and such, mostly)... but yarn... that I can use... :)

At the moment, I'm working on a hat (almost done, but I need some eyelash yarn or fun fur or something to finish it off), my "armwarmers" (in quotes because they have very large holes, and would not actually keep your arms warm... but they look neat!), and a messenger bag (going pretty well, if a bit slowly)... oh, and an afghan (okay, I have one square done!)... yeah, I have four projects going at once... it's so I can do something different if I get sick of one of them... they're all different colors, so it's some visual variety... :)

Gabe's dad said that Gabe's grandpa will be sending some genealogy stuff for that side soon, which will be good to have... I'm more or less at a dead end when it comes to them... so this will be another jumpstart... :)

And the LARP continues to go well... game this Saturday, off next Saturday, and then I think we finally get back to a semblance of a normal schedule... right before the semester ends and we have to find a new site... *sigh*...

And that is my life, in a nutshell... whee! :)
