Random ramblings cuz I have nothing better to do... or something... :)
This is the site formerly known as Anneke's Haven. Within, you will find information about my previous White Wolf chronicles, and other random gaming related stuff. I also have a blog here, where I talk about pretty much everything and anything, though it's primarily about my exciting life... the definition of exciting definitely being up for debate.
Enjoy your visit, and come back soon!
Even though I haven't worked all week, we can still have End of the Work Week Wisdom...
"I'm a genius with access to unstable chemicals!" --Friar Carl in "Van Helsing"
Which was a good line in an otherwise extremely crappy movie... :)
In other news, it's New Years Eve... party tonight, of course, which should be a good time all around. Though I should decide what I'm wearing BEFORE I start getting ready, I think... :)
Nope, no new covers to rant about. After talking music with Dennis recently, I've made him a mix CD of covers that I do like... I had a little trouble getting enough of them, but I eventually found what I needed... :)
So yeah, instead of ranting, I'll just post a sort of year-end review of bands that were new to me in 2004, and why you should check them out... :)
Ask Me Later - girly pop punk. It's sooooo much fun!
Butterfly Messiah - slightly techno (in my opinion), their page calls them more Pop/Electronica. Sure, that works too. :)
Celldweller / Circle of Dust - a lot of their stuff sounds the same, or uses a lot of the same elements, but it's some pretty good, heavy, goth-ish, techno-ish, stuff. "Frozen" is definitely my favorite song by them...
Dreamside - very pretty stuff, kinda ethereal vocals, and the one song I have by them was remixed by The Cruxshadows... what's not to like? :)
Effcee - I only have one song by them at this point, but I MUST find more. I really like it a lot!
Ego Likeness - I really like their lead singer's voice a lot, and the music goes well with it. Good stuff.
Interpol - I'm sure I had at least vaguely heard of these guys before this year, but hadn't paid much attention. The lead singer's voice frequently reminds me of Peter Murphy, and that's just kewl... :)
K.M.F.D.M. - yes, I know I'm WAY behind the curve on this one... but I finally got some K.M.F.D.M. this year, so it's new to me! :) I have only a small collection, but it's good stuff thus far... :)
L'Ame Immortelle - just starting to get into these folks, but liking it thus far.
My Own Sin - one of the many Florida based bands that I've discovered, thanks to Slaghuis. Good stuff, I'm tellin' ya... :)
Placebo - yeah, I had heard of them before this year, but I finally actually got to hear their music this year, and that was very kewl... :)
Portishead - again, another band I had heard of, but not listened to very much. And now, I listen to them lots... :)
racermason - I think this is the discovery I'm most pleased of at the moment, cuz I just really like their stuff... I want more!
Skintrade - I've only heard one song by them, but I like it a lot, and hope to be able to get more! :)
And that about covers it. And yeah, the majority of this new music exposure comes from Slaghuis and J, but a few come from my new goth compilations that I've bought over the year. All in all, it's been a good year for new music for me... and that's kewl... :)
Well, Christmas is over, and I'm back... good Christmas all around, too, with lots of awesome gifts from everyone involved. :)
Due to another gameless weekend, and due to not posting yesterday, and due to watching a TON of movies over the weekend, we're gonna do a movie review day today... I may miss some of them, but we'll see if I can't remember all of what I watched... :)
"Mars Attacks" - no, hadn't seen it yet, despite wanting to for a good long while. I liked it. Very campy and silly, but it was fun... :)
"Singles" - I hadn't seen this in forever... and I believe I may have been wrong about the line "We're world famous in Belgium"... but I think there's a line something like that somewhere in the movie... I was watching this with the sound pretty low, so I might have missed it.
"The Outlaw Josey Wales" - in J's continuing endeavor to expose me to some westerns... I really liked this one a lot, but I think the helpful factor in that was that it had tie-ins to the Civil War. So as long as we keep watching westerns that aren't too far removed from the Civil War, I think I'll continue enjoying them... :)
"The Italian Job" - hadn't seen this one yet either, and I really liked it. I'm always impressed with the fact that Marky Mark can act... just never really saw it in the white boy rapping and dancing around in his underwear... which reminds me, I have pictures of that concert somewhere... I should find them... but then again, there are a great many pictures that I should find... :)
I think there were more than that, but that's all I'm remembering right now. We also watched part of "Die Another Day," "National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation," "Everyone Says I Love You," "Hiding Out," and "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead." Actually, we may have watched the bulk of "Vegas Vacation," but I wasn't really paying much attention to it... :)
I suppose I may as well make mention of the movies I got for Christmas, even though most of them were ones I had seen before. I got "Interview with a Vampire" (on DVD, as I only had the VHS), "Office Space," "Short Circuit," and a box set of the original "Nosferatu," "The House on Haunted Hill," and "Night of the Living Dead"... what makes this last set all the better is the fact that the version of Nosferatu in the set is the one that has an all Type O Negative soundtrack... if this is what I think it is, it means that instead of having to watch a silent movie, I get to listen to Type O while watching the quintessential vampire movie. And this, my friends, rocks muchly!
Well, I don't really have anything for the End of the Work Week Wisdom, and my work week ended yesterday anyhow.
So I'll just wish all of my loyal readers a Merry Christmas, or as my friends like to call it, Christmahanakwanzakah. Yeah, that should cover most folks... :)
Everyone have a safe and happy holiday, no matter what you celebrate. I'll probably be back to posting on Tuesday... :)
No, the damn cross stitch is not done yet. :) It was to be my bosses Christmas present, and he's still going to get it for Christmas, just not until after the new year. I showed him the picture of what it will look like done, and the frame it's going into, and told him I'd get it done when I could, but that I had run out of time. He was kewl with it, unsurprisingly. :)
Now to finish the one other Christmas present I still need to finish, which luckily doesn't need to go anywhere till Monday. This does mean that I need to finish it either tonight or tomorrow, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem. It goes relatively quickly, and it's a good portion of the way done already.
My agenda for tomorrow includes:
- Going to Wal-Mart to get screws for my license plates. They arrived in the mail Tuesday, and I have the rear plate on, but not the front one. Need to do that before Monday, when we go to St. Louis, and tomorrow morning is my best bet for getting that done. Not looking forward to going to Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
- Making pink stuff and brownies
- Finishing that last Christmas present
- Getting all my stuff sorted and ready to go as far as the assorted Christmas parties I still have to attend
- Cleaning up around the apartment
And that should do it.
One present exchange at 5:30 tomorrow, then dinner. Exchanging presents with J probably Saturday morning. Another dinner Saturday. Nothing to do Sunday (yay!). To St. Louis on Monday. And then I'm done with Christmas. Hurrah!
And then my crafting efforts can be turned towards making stuff for ME! :)
Well, this would have been a much longer post, reviewing all six of the covers I heard today, but when I was halfway done, my computer ate it. So now we get just a rant.
"The End" (The Doors) performed by Dance Planet X. No. Just no. It's not even close to the original, and the recording isn't very good... I'd say that maybe the Doors just shouldn't be covered, but X does a halfway decent cover of "Crystal Ship," and I love Type O Negative's cover of "Light My Fire"... so yeah... bad Dance Planet X, no biscuit.
Oddly enough, the other five songs are pretty much all 80s songs that I like, and I didn't hate a single one... for the record:
"Love My Way" (Psychedelic Furs) by Wednesday's Child
"Don't You (Forget About Me)" (Simple Minds) by phoenix/NEBULIN
"Mysterious Ways" (U2) by Brighid Aura (KMFDM's is better, but this is still good)
"Send Me an Angel" (can't remember) by Deadstar Assembly (really good!)
"Just What I Needed" (The Cars) by The Numb Ones
So yeah... you can check all of those out on The Slaghuis... :)
I have no covers to rant about, at the moment. This is, indeed, a very odd week.
I do know, however, that Slaghuis has a playlist up that I haven't listened to yet, and there are at least 6 covers on it, as it has a section just for covers. So when I get done listening to the present CD I have on, I'm off to listen to the new playlist. So perhaps there will be another post later... I suspect as much... :)
I have discovered, however, that sometimes its good to revisit old compilation CDs. I have a stack of 5 CDs that a friend in Norway sent me, and I've been relistening to them all, and discovering a lot of songs that I like much better now than I originally did. Specifically, I can actually appreciate "Marrakesh Night Market," by Loreena McKennitt, now that I've taken a semester of Middle Eastern dance. In fact, I need to let Seth J. hear this song, cuz it's super spiffy. Much slower than what we usually dance to, but spiffy nonetheless... :)
Also... gothed out "Dance of the Sugar Plum Faeries" is rockin'... just saying... :)
If all goes well, my computer at home will be getting some more gothed out Christmas music in the next few days... cuz if I have to listen to Christmas music, it might as well be good, right?
Okay, this is going to be a disappointing posting week. Not only did I not watch any movies last week, I also didn't game at all over the weekend. How weird is that?
I have, however, been working on game related stuff. There's a new Cammie game starting up in January, and I've been working on my character for that game. I actually came up with some pretty good ideas on Sunday, while working on that damn cross stitch (still not done. oh well.). I think I'm gonna have a lot of fun with this character... :) It's pretty kewl to get to work up something more or less from scratch, but still toss in a couple of little things from past characters... :)
Also been working on the "super sekrit" game, which isn't so super sekrit anymore. Probably in May, Nate and I are planning to run Werewolf. We're waiting till May because the above-mentioned Cammie game won't be running during the summer. So yeah, it's an all new summer Garou LARP in C-dale. Of course, it's going to be set in St. Louis, but that's neither here nor there... :) I've already talked fairly extensively with a couple of people about characters, and we're gonna have some interesting ones, if those two are any indication... :)
Of course, we still have a TON of work to do for that game, so no one should get too dead set on anything, until you see the changes we're making. Unfortunately, Laws of the Wild revised has a LOT of problems, and we want to make sure we fix them before we start the game. While we're at it, we will probably end up changing some stuff that's not as broken... cuz some stuff just doesn't work well, IMHO. The basic system will still be in place, we're just adding stuff and fixing stuff, for the most part.
Cuz Werewolves are supposed to kick a lot of ass... so we're gonna make sure they do... :)
Hmmm... I don't think I watched any movies over the course of the last week. How incredibly odd!
I acquired a copy of "Return of the Living Dead" in the Mad Santa gift exchange on Saturday night... whee... J wants to watch it, even though I told him it sucks... :) Contrary to some belief, it has NOTHING to do with "Night of the Living Dead" or any of the "of the Dead" series... well, I suppose it has the redeeming line "Send more paramedics"... :)
I think there will be a whole lot more to say about movies after Christmas, as I suspect I'll be getting a whole lot of them. On that note, however, I probably won't be posting next Monday, seeing as I'll be spending the day driving to St. Louis to visit my family... should be a fun trip, I just need to finish negotiating with Megan about when she wants to leave... :)
Well, it's official... y'all are stuck with me for another five years, minimum. I just renewed my domain name... hard to believe I've already had it for 3 years... here's to another 5! :)
Craft day, eh? Well, I can say that I am officially sick and tired of cross stitch, and that I desperately want to start working on some crocheted things for myself. But I have two presents left to finish (1 cross stitch, 1 crochet), and less than a week now to finish them both... aw, crap... good thing I've got all of Saturday and most of Sunday to work on stuff... I think I'm gonna need it!
Crap, I just realized just how short on time I actually am... grrr... I do this to myself just about every year, you'd think I would learn. Last year, I spent the afternoon right before the Christmas party finishing up Cindy's present. There was one point where it looked like I was going to be throwing it, half done, with the needle still attached, into a box, and saying "this is what you're getting, now give it back so I can finish it..." :) But I got it done... so I will finish this damn cross stitch... dammit... :)
And if I can't get the other gift done too, then I'll figure something out... :) Flexibility, that's what it's all about... :)
Definitely looking forward to Christmas, though. Right now, it looks like a Christmas party this Saturday with the friends, Christmas Day dinner with friends, and the family Christmas will be a couple days after Christmas. The remainder of the time around Christmas will be spent with J, which is just about as perfect as it can get... :)
And yeah, I guess this probably is the first official mention of J... so if you know who it is, go you... and if you don't, and want to know, ask me, and I will likely tell you... and if you are J, well, hi there... :)
Different twist for music day, this week. I was reminded yesterday, on getting out my Greenberry Woods CD, about all of the assorted things I have had signed by various members of bands... let's see what I can remember... :)
Well, first off, there was that time when I was in high school when the Guys Next Door came to K-Mart to sign stuff. Now, if you don't know who the Guys Next Door are, you're missing out. They were basically another New Kids on the Block, with a bit more ethnic diversity. And they had a TV show. And they were kinda funny too... :) Anyways, yeah. We got my mom to drive us down to a far away K-Mart (I think it was in South County) to get stuff signed by these guys from a TV show... :) I think I have pictures... :)
Then there was the first Pointfest. I'm still a little fuzzy on exactly when this was. Anyways, this was the Pointfest where only 6 bands played, and it wrapped up around 10 p.m., so you could get Midnight Oil's autographs afterwards. This was one of the times I was with Jamie when she introduced herself as Guinevere, which always got good reactions out of people... :)
Then it must have been at the next Pointfest (that would be Pointfest 2), when I got one of the Johns (from TMBG) to sign my T-shirt with the giant head on it. Unfortunately, washing T-shirts causes permanent marker to wash out, but dammit, I liked wearing that shirt. Now it's becoming a part of the quilt I'm making... whenever I get around to that... :)
Sometime in all of this, probably '92 or '93, was when Jamie drove out to Indiana to see the Gin Blossoms, and brought me back a dollar bill that Jesse had signed. I think I eventually spent that dollar, but for a very long time, it sat in the front of my Gin Blossoms CD case. I still remember what it said: "Dawn, Where are you? I miss you. Jesse"... not that he knew me, that's just what he wrote... :)
I also have this vague memory of seeing Catherine Wheel somewhere in St. Louis (I think it was the Galaxy, but I doubt that's what it's called anymore), and waiting afterwards to get them to sign stuff... probably our ticket stubs, though I don't know where mine has run off to. Again with Jamie (of course), and this is when I decided that Rob (the lead singer) is the devil... he just has a very devilish look about him... :)
And then, finally, though, again, I can't remember exactly when, we saw Greenberry Woods at Mississippi Nights. I do know it was in August, and that it was Ira's (one of the guys in the band) birthday. This was before I turned 21, I know that much, because this was when they had the stupid rule that if you were under 21, you could only be in one section of the club, and couldn't go on the floor. Well, Jamie and I were watching them, singing along with every song, and these two older women noticed it, and ended up begging the bouncers to let us go onto the floor with them, promising they'd look after us. Well, the bouncers finally caved, for the last song, which just happened to be "Waiting for Dawn"... my favorite... :) Afterwards, we waited for them to come out, and I got my CD booklet signed by Matt... who wrote "Dawn, I've been waiting..." :) Cute, eh? :)
There's probably others as well, but those are the ones I remember... yeah, I listened to some sheer crap for a good long while... but there's some good bands mixed in there as well... :)
::..::
As an aside, in order to try to sort out dates on some of this, I did a whole bunch of attempted research on Pointfest. I wasn't able to find ANYWHERE on the web where someone has sat down and listed the dates and bands at each of the older Pointfests. In fact, I was able to find very little information on any Pointfest before 5... which was the first one I didn't go to. And now I'm mad that I didn't go to that one, because Poe and Pulp both played that show. It was in May of 1996... sadly, I missed a lot of concerts after the fall of 1995... in fact, I don't even want to think about all the concerts I've missed... :(
Only played in Where Angels Fear to Tread over the weekend. Felt kinda lame cuz we couldn't accomplish the one feat we set out to do, but, then again, we didn't start out with much of a plan. Cuz no, a Santa Claus convention really isn't a good plan... :) And we did ultimately get some good information, it just wasn't all that useful at that point... and I got to have fun Dominating silly little mortals... :)
There's supposed to be game on Friday this week, but I really don't want to go... yeah, XP is nice, but there are a great many things that I can think of that are much nicer... :)
There's a stupid bug flying around in my office, which has nothing to do with game, but it's pissing me off... so I'm off to try to kill it... whee! :)
Hmmm... odd weekend, in that I didn't watch a whole lot of new movies. I did see "American History X" last Thursday, and that was a good movie. A lot more interesting than I initially thought it was going to be (hence why I hadn't seen it before).
I did go out and buy a VCR yesterday (do you know how hard it is to find JUST a VCR?!), so I was able to rewatch the "Neverwhere" series, which was quite kewl. For those who don't know, "Neverwhere" is a Neil Gaiman book, and it's also a BBC series. Very neat premise, and I once tried to run a Changeling game that was loosely based on the idea of London Above / London Below and their virtual lack of interaction... it was a neat game, but then people left for the summer, and it was never again resurrected. *sigh*...
So yeah... not a lot of movies.
Oh, I did get a report from Thor and Cindy that "Blade: Trinity" is not worth the money to go see in the theatre. So I suppose I'll wait until video for that one... :) I do want to see "Lemony Snicket," which comes out this weekend, but due to busy-ness this week, I think I won't see it until next week, at the earliest... it might end up being a "wait till video" movie as well, depending on how long it stays in the theatre... :)
So it's Friday, and that makes it "End of the Work Week Wisdom" day...
Now I'm probably gonna get this one wrong, but this should be close enough.
"They knew they were evil. They wanted to die, so they melted." --Regarding PEANUT BUTTER in chocolate covered cherries
Maybe you had to be there, maybe not. But nonetheless. Who the hell puts PEANUT BUTTER in chocolate covered cherries?!?! So glad I didn't take one... :)
So yeah, there ya go. First EotWWW in a good long while, but I thought it was worthwhile... :)
Meh, craft day is a boring topic... suffice it to say, I sold stuff at one craft fair last weekend, and did okay. My stuff is being taken to another craft fair this Saturday, so hopefully I'll sell more stuff. That would be kewl.
Today is just a musical week, cuz I found another goth compilation yesterday, 3 CDs for $10. How can you pass that up? :) It's pretty kewl so far, if a bit dance-y. But it's where the Apoptygma Berzerk remixes of both "Tears" by the Cruxshadows and "Sweet" by Switchblade Symphony are, so it's all good. Actually, I now have 3 copies of the latter song... all different lengths... weirdness...
It also has what I think is my new favorite APB song, "Love Never Dies (Part 1)"... it samples some classical stuff, and, well, it's APB. Too bad most of their CDs are sucky... stuff they put on comps is kewl as hell... :)
Christmas shopping is 99% done. I have 3 gifts to finish making, and I will probably buy one more thing before all is said and done... only problem being that I'm not sure what that one more thing will be... I had one idea, but that may or may not happen... need to do some looking... Anyways, it's nice to have it all done before mid-December, that's for sure... :)
Oh, music day... and what a day it will be, too... :)
First off, I was asked my opinion of Korn's cover of "Another Brick in the Wall" on Saturday night. Well... yeah. I rather like Pink Floyd, but I also have a tendency to like covers of their songs. For example, Catherine Wheel does a great cover of "Wish You Were Here."
But this Korn cover, I dunno. Something about it bothers me. The core of the song itself is fine, but the beginning and the end are just sort of off. It might be that there are lyrics that I hadn't heard before, that Korn includes, or maybe they just made those up. Either way, it's weird.
So we'll just put Korn in the category of weird, with a possible need to be kicked at a later date... I did hear that they're planning to do a cover of "Love My Way" by the Psychedelic Furs, so that should be interesting... :)
::..::
And now, to the other ranting. I picked up two new CDs at Hot Topic last night. One is "Metropolis 2004," which is the 4th of these that I've bought. Nothing to rant about there, though I haven't heard all of it just yet.
The other is called "Psycho Tina's Hell House of Horror," and features a cute little cartoon girl on the front. Guess that must be Psycho Tina. I dunno, I've never heard of her.
Anyway, this CD has a LOT of covers... so let's begin, shall we?
1. "Fade to Black" (Metallica) by Apoptygma Berzerk. Yeah, I've actually had this one for a while. *sigh*... not like I'm a huge Metallica fan, but this is just wrong. Granted, it's super catchy, and bouncy, and danceable... but that's NOT what Metallica should be... but as APB does one of my favorite songs ever ("Until the End of the World"), they'll just be in the "needs to be kicked" category...
2. "Bela Lugosi's Dead" (Bauhaus) by Godhead. I think I had heard this one before... bet it was the one on Slaghuis that I freaked out about because it's like 3 minutes long. The original is more like 8. Anyway... yeah... how about we not cover Bauhaus? That seems like a very good plan to me. It could be worse, I suppose, but it's not good. I don't know anything else by Godhead, so they'll get a nice swift kick, just in case they're really kewl... :)
(And now, for an aside... is it just me, or do the lead singers of Pitbull Daycare and Zeromancer sound exactly the same? Need to look into that, I think...)
3. "Ballroom Blitz" by Sweet vs. The Mission UK. This isn't exactly a cover, actually. It's more like a remix... sorta. It's still the original vocals, and most of the original music, actually. So I won't complain too much. That, and I really like Mission UK... :)
4. "Girls and Boys" (Blur) by Fear Cult. Oh. My. God. I saw that title on the back of the CD, and went "nah, couldn't be." Then I'm sitting in the living room, wrapping presents, and wondering why that beat sounds so familiar. Oh, it is. I love Blur; I really like everything I've heard by Fear Cult so far... this song included... well done, Fear Cult, you get a gold star... :)
And that's about it. Yeah, there are songs other than covers on the CD, including Zeromancer and Switchblade Symphony that I hadn't heard before. And a band called Effcee that I rather like, thus far... :)
This past weekend was a two game weekend, so quite a bit going on. Unfortunately, I was rather tired at both games, due to the craft fair.
Friday game, I only played for a couple of hours. But apparently a couple of hours was all it took to make an impression... well, more realistically, probably about 5 minutes. See, the new Prince had assigned each of his officers one of the Traditions to explain. I got Hospitality. Dennis and I talked about what he wanted me to do with that, and I ran with it, full bore. I wrote up my entire speech (only one who did that), and read it to everyone during game. And from what I've heard, people continued to talk about my speech for the whole weekend... now let's just enforce what I said, and it's all good... :) Remember, "you are nothing"...
Saturday game wasn't too bad, though I spent most of the night trying to clean up after my pack members... well, two of them, specifically, and a third who got dragged along for the ride. Picked up two new members, ended up having to lose one of them to the newly formed 4th pack. Ah well, I'll live. I like my pack with 6 members; we're at 7 right now. Well, someone will end up dead, I know... :)
I need to figure out peoples' schedules over Christmas, so I can schedule the 2nd half of Turkey Madness... cuz I'm really liking that story at the moment... it'll probably end up turning into a sick mass combat, but we'll see... :)
Public Service Announcement: If you somehow end up with 2/3 of a box of unfrosted (yuck!) strawberry Pop Tarts at your apartment, and have no desire to eat them the way they come out of the package, they taste pretty damn good if you toast them and then put cheesecake flavored cream cheese on them.
Then again, I have a feeling that there are few things that would not be improved with the addition of cheesecake flavored cream cheese... yummy... :)
::..::
Movies, then. Well, I've pretty much just been watching stuff I already owned. So not much to say, here. Watched "The Professional," "Bram Stoker's Dracula," "Nightmare Before Christmas," and "The Boondock Saints." The last of these was a recent purchase (as in yesterday), because it was only $10 at Wal-Mart, and I haven't bought myself a movie in ages. I'm mostly not buying new movies because the majority of the Christmas list I gave my mom was movies, and I have no idea which, if any, she will get me. So I'm holding off on buying anything on that list till after I see my Christmas haul... :)
Yeah, Christmas. That's in like 19 days. Gah! I need to get on that shopping thing like IMMEDIATELY! Most of my family is covered, I've finished shopping for my co-workers, and I think I'm done with all of my honorary nieces and nephews. It's mostly just all of my friends I need to take care of now... though some of them are already done.
::..::
And in other news, I was told on Saturday night that my webpage is creepy (by someone who didn't know it was my page)... how is it creepy? Sure, the picture of me now involves me sitting in a very small coffin shaped box, but the person who said my page was creepy hadn't even seen that one yet... :)
I think I'm gonna start up "theme days" on my blog... this is only a halfway developed idea at the moment, but here's what I've got so far...
Monday is going to be movie review day. Mainly because I tend to watch most of the movies I see on Saturdays and Sundays. So they're fresh in my mind on Monday.
Tuesday is going to be game recap day. Granted, I mostly game on the weekends too, but I can't do everything on Mondays!
Wednesday, I think, will be music commentary day. So either rants on cover songs, or talking about other music stuff.
I'm still open for suggestions on Thursdays and Fridays, though right now, I suspect Thursday will end up being about crafty type stuff, and Fridays will be EotWWW... yeah, that might do it. :)
::..::
So then, music commentary day.
Well, we'll start with the Middle Eastern Dance Mix CD that I made. Since Seth J. and I are taking M.E. Dance this semester, and since we dance over at Thor and Cindy's after game most Saturday nights, we needed to pick out some songs that we could dance to. So I made a whole damn CD. Now this is mostly a good thing, but it has brought up two points.
1) Not everything I picked for the CD is gonna work out quite how I wanted it to. I made a copy of the CD for our teacher, and she listened to it last night. Now I had been thinking about working on "Touched," by VAST, cuz I love that song. Well, last night, on hearing it, our teacher said that with that one, we'd have to just go with the music, cuz it's NOT in 4/4 time. Great. That makes that far more complex.
2) I listen to some rather obscure stuff. I commented to Seth that I really like Black Tape for a Blue Girl, but I've only ever heard one song by them, and that I need more. But that you can't find their CDs locally. *sigh*... Most of the M.E. Dance CD is from compilation CDs... so a LOT of the bands on it are bands that I've only ever heard one song by. And it's hard to remedy that. :(
::..::
In other news, today's musical selection is The Black Bible, which is a 4 CD goth compilation (gee, go figure). This is some good stuff. 66 songs, all told. Gotta love that much gothy goodness... :)
