Random ramblings cuz I have nothing better to do... or something... :)
This is the site formerly known as Anneke's Haven. Within, you will find information about my previous White Wolf chronicles, and other random gaming related stuff. I also have a blog here, where I talk about pretty much everything and anything, though it's primarily about my exciting life... the definition of exciting definitely being up for debate.

Blogger was behaving oddly yesterday, and seems to still be acting up today. We'll see if this will actually post...

So, "V for Vendetta." Now Thor was kind enough to loan me the comic on Monday of last week, so that I could read it before we saw the movie on Friday. When I met him and my other friends at the theatre on Friday, I told him that I wasn't sure I was entirely happy that I had read it beforehand, because that meant I knew what was going on with some of the stuff in the preview already, and so it was kinda like a spoiler.

Then we watched the movie.

I can understand why Alan Moore refused to have his name associated with it. In my opinion, it would have much better been described as "very loosely based on the events of the comic book 'V for Vendetta'". Because the truth of the matter is that the plot was changed soooo much that there were a good many parts where I was going "did I miss something in the comic?"

It wasn't a bad movie, overall. It was just not anything like what I was anticipating. There were substantial enough changes to the characters that I was very weirded out, there were key characters that were simply dropped from the movie... all in all, just weird, comparatively speaking.

Of course, this makes me curious to go back and pick up "From Hell" and "LXG" in comic format, and see just how much those differed. Because I've heard that Alan Moore wasn't pleased with those interpretations either... and now, I think I can understand why that is likely to be.

So other than that, the only movie news I have to report is that I have "Legend" and "The Last Unicorn" winging their way to me, which makes me a very happy monkey. :)

And Bobert and I discovered that there is a movie coming out, I believe this fall, called "Marie-Antoinette." I am excited. :)

And Shawn is obsessed with "Snakes on a Plane." He's already making plans to see it... in AUGUST... though it is at a theatre that serves beer, so apparently that's part of the appeal... :)

Oh, music news too! :) I'm going to go see The Birthday Massacre in Chicago on April 1st! w00t! And Deadstar Assembly is one of the two opening bands, so I will get to see two bands I like for the low low price of $10, plus some gas money. This rocks. :)
