Random ramblings cuz I have nothing better to do... or something... :)
This is the site formerly known as Anneke's Haven. Within, you will find information about my previous White Wolf chronicles, and other random gaming related stuff. I also have a blog here, where I talk about pretty much everything and anything, though it's primarily about my exciting life... the definition of exciting definitely being up for debate.
Enjoy your visit, and come back soon!
Nope, I've got nothing for the End of the Work Week Wisdom.
From here on out, my schedule goes kinda screwy. I work Monday, but not Tuesday. Then I work Wednesday-Friday. Then it's the weekend. Then I work Monday and Tuesday, but not for the rest of the week, at least in theory (I still actually have to tell my boss about that). But yeah, mini-vacation for me! Whee! :)
And through all of that, if I'm not at work, that means no posting from me, because I will most likely be at Jerome's house, and thus with no internet. Those boys really gotta get that fixed... though theoretically, they had interviews today... will find out in a couple hours how that went.
So at any rate, everyone have a good weekend, and a good 4th of July, if I don't post before then. :) .

How odd... I could have sworn I posted here yesterday... musta forgot in my excitement over new music... :)
So yeah, what I meant to post was: new Muse CD coming out soonishly. Check it out here. Enjoy. Cuz it rocks. :)
In other news, my friend Ashlea reminded me that there is a kewl pattern for skull potholders in the crochet version of Stitch n' Bitch, so I'm making some for the boys' house. They seem easy enough and super spiffy thus far. Hoping to make some serious progress tonight and tomorrow, and then maybe make a set for our apartment... or make something, not sure what yet. The one thing I've discovered is that doing charts in crochet isn't too bad once you actually know how to crochet. I think my first experiment in charts was when I was still a bit clueless... so now that I know what I'm doing, I'm gonna make all kinds of charts! :)
16 days till Ozzfest. Commence squee-ing now! :) I still need to get the last two people who might be going with us to commit to either going or not, figure out who is driving the second car, and warn my mom that the boys and I are invading... potentially, it's five of the boys and myself. That could be craziness. But there's plenty of room at my mom's house, so it won't be too bad... just craziness. :) .

Much better mood today! I got to go pick up my guitar in Marion last night, which also meant that I got to go hang out with my boyfriend, and we watched "The Princess Bride," which made it all around a rockin' evening. :)
I'm finally getting to listen to the WoVeN CD that Jason bought, and I'm liking it a whole lot. He said he didn't care for much other than "Pillage," which was the song that we both originally heard by them and both liked. Me, I kinda like the whole thing. It's got a very Sigur Ros feel to it, except it's in English instead of Icelandic. :) One of the descriptors they use for it on The Music Made Me Do It is Neo-Psychedelia... so yeah, I can see that being my sort of thing... :)
Got a whole lot of stuff to get done tonight after work, so I am quasi-hermitting. Not really, though, as a good chunk of stuff I need to do involves going out shopping. But I'm not gonna do the usual Tuesday night Hangar excursion. I'm gonna do my laundry, get my shopping done, try to get some stuff done around the apartment, and call Jerome before bed. Sounds like a plan. :) .

Tired and in a somewhat foul mood this morning. :( But I had a mostly good weekend (except for the three cat scratches, none of which are from my precious babies), so that helps this not be too sucky of a day. Hopefully.
I need to start taking my movies over to the boys house, because they own a very small selection of movies, and though I love "Boondock Saints," I'd rather not watch it every time I go there. :)
My guitar should be in my possession soonishly. The UPS site says they tried to deliver it Friday, but I didn't see a sticker from that... :( Hopefully there will be one today, and I can call them and tell them to take it off the truck this evening, and go pick it up tonight. Hopefully. :) That will make my day muchly better. :)
In the meantime, though, I'm working, and waiting on the boss to arrive. It's so quiet around here right now. .

Gotta post this one before I forget it. End of the Work Week Wisdom.
"I want to cut my hair, because it's getting kinda emo, but then I kinda hope that it will just cut itself." --Jesi
I <3 my roommate. :)
In my lack of posting this week, I neglected to mention that I got my 2nd tattoo on Tuesday. This one is on the right hand side of my lower back, though it goes about halfway up my back, and is the Chinese characters for "serenity" in a reddish color. It looks very spiffy already, and will look even better when it finishes healing. Which I really wish it would do already, because I hate that whole feeling of dead skin just kinda sitting on my back, and then hurting every time I move. :(
But it's so worth it. :) And this one didn't even hurt as bad as the last one, despite being probably twice as big, and far more detailed. Still deciding if I'm going to get wings next, or just go with smaller things on my shoulders... :) .

Shuddup about me not posting all week. I've been working and doing other stuff. :)
Yesterday, Bryan and Vanessa brought me kittens. I didn't think I was going to get kittens, even though we had talked about it, because I said "no, I don't think we need kittens. I'm never home." But then they brought them anyway, and once they're there, you can't say no to kittens.
So we now have a momma cat, Moxie Guinness God (Jesi named her Moxie, but toyed with the other names, so I have decreed this to be her full name. Mostly, she's just Moxie, which seems to fit her nicely.), who is a very dark brown mottled color, with some patches of much lighter brown. I think maybe she kinda looks like coffee with a little bit of creamer that hasn't quite been stirred in yet.
See for yourself. This is her very surly, "what is my baby doing?" picture, as she lounges in her favorite sleeping spot, the TMBG quilt of legend. It's not quite done yet. Megan wants it. The cats like to sleep on it tho... we shall see who wins the epic battle for the quilt of comfiness.
The baby cat, Vladimir, a.k.a. Vlad the Impaler, Voivod of Wallachia (yes, I named my cat after Dracula. Did you expect any less from me?), is my sweetie. He is solid black, which is everything I ever wanted in a kittie. :)
And here is Vlad. He is the tiniest little thing EVAR, and too frickin' adorable on top of that. This morning, he entertained me by chasing his own tail, freaking out about his shadow, chasing his momma's tail, and playing with a wadded up paper bag that I found.
So far, they seem to be doing wonderfully in making the transition from outside cats to inside cats. They seem to understand the concept of the litterbox, which makes me SUPER happy. They haven't attacked my yarn yet, which is also SUPER good, because I have a lot of yarn.
Still need to find them a vet, and get them all checked out. I can already tell that they're prolly a bit underweight, as both are skinny as rails, but I'm sure once they adjust a little bit more, they'll eat plenty. And they both need declawed, because as cruel as some people may find that, Moxie put her front paws on my leg while I was eating breakfast today, and her claws were poking through my pants. NOT pleasant. :( I don't care if they claw up my couch, since it's already pretty well clawed to hell and back by cats at its former residence, but I don't like them clawing up ME. :) And they both need to be neutered. Vlad is apparently from Moxie's 2nd litter, and she's only about 7-8 months old. None of her first litter survived, and Vlad was the only one who made it out of the 2nd litter. :(
Anyways, those are my cats. Yay for cats! :) .

Yeah, yeah, weird week continues. Super weird, all around.
Today, I bought a guitar. :)
The guitar is super sweet for several reasons, including: 1) The color of the guitar, according to the manufacturer's webpage, is "Vampyre Red Satin." How neat is that? 2) It's in a coffin case. Black case, red lining. SWEET! 3) Oh, yeah, it sorta used to belong to the former guitarist for Abney Park... :)
I'm totally squee-ing over the last bit, in particular. It's a gorgeous frickin' guitar, and it's in a totally sweet case, but oh. my. god. it was used to record some of my favorite songs in the whole world, and he may well have been playing it when I saw them in Seattle. I can't remember, honestly. But it's awesome, no matter what. :)
Now, to maybe actually learn how to play it... and then New Nick and I can both play guitar at game / after game. Rock on. :)
No End of the Work Week Wisdom this week. I will soon have a guitar. What more do you want from me? :) .

Been an odd week at work this week, with my boss out of town since Friday of last week, and only stopping by briefly in the morning tomorrow before leaving for the rest of the day. This all works out okay, though, because it's been an odd week all around... :)
The weekend was a nice one, though there was no Hunter, as suspected. Both Ashes on Friday and Riddles on Saturday seem to be exercising their right to the 27th letter of the alphabet, though considerably more peacably in Riddles. I could have been Prince in two games, had I wanted to, but I didn't, so I'm Seneschal in Riddles, under the person I told to declare Praxis... :)
(Speaking of Praxis, this has brought up an interesting point, and while I don't know that I will actually get anywhere with it, I intend on pushing the issue a wee bit... :) )
Ultimate Frisbee was craziness, and though I did have Steve on my team, we pretty well sucked. Randy didn't really know the rules, and Bobert hurt himself early on, and Jim plays without his glasses... so a bit of a disadvantage there... specially when the other team was Thor, Pleasure, Amber, and Jerome, who is sneaky good... like you don't expect it, but he's good. :)
Other than that, there was a lot of not sleeping all weekend, and then it was time to work again. :)
As per the usual, lots of stuff going on this week, and then also this weekend. And as per the usual, Thursday is my recovery day. No plans, early bedtime, it all works out. :) Oh, except that didn't happen last week... :) Ah well. :)
My music listening today has been odd... first I listened to all of my Misfits, then Postal Service, then Rob Zombie, and now Shakira. So yeah, ecletic. I like it. :) .

Some weeks, I go all day Friday without being able to come up with something for the End of the Work Week Wisdom. Other weeks, I know what I'm going to post by Monday. This is one of those weeks. :)
"We are SO worth pancakes." --D.J.
You definitely had to be involved in the conversation to really understand, but the bit preceding that involved him saying what he was looking for in a girlfriend, ending it with "and she has to be able to make pancakes." I responded that he had a pretty good list, and I concurred with all points.
Because we are SO worth pancakes. :)
So yeah. Random and funny. :)
I actually went to see "The Omen" last night with the Marion boys, though I warned Jerome that his arm had best be ready, because I knew I'd be freaking out and hiding from the screen at some point. Which I did. But mostly, I laughed a lot. It was really pretty silly. :)
The weekend continues to get busier, as Hunter has now been added into the mix for Saturday morning. I have a feeling this is a pipe dream, because I'm sure people won't go to sleep immediately after returning from Ashes, and thus will probably sleep a whole lot later than our planned start time of 10 a.m. :)
Ah well, we'll see, and regardless of what all actually gets done, I think it's gonna be a good weekend. Just let me play my Ultimate Frisbee on Saturday (and get a shower afterwards), and I will be a happy camper. :) .

So I've really fallen off with posting here. That happens every now and again. Ah well.
It could also be that I'm exceptionally tired, and pretty well have been all week. I slept sorta oddly on Sunday and Monday nights, and I got very little sleep Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The latter two are my own fault, mostly. Ah well. :)
So I survived 6/6/6 without any real incident, though it has been brought to my attention that I know the devil and the anti-Christ... but both of those are fairly speculative... and I've only MET the devil, I don't really know him. :) These things make much more sense on very little sleep, somehow.
I do hope to get a decent night's sleep tonight, though, in preparation for the weekend. Ashes is tomorrow night, followed by a good likelihood of yard sales on Saturday morning, followed by Ultimate Frisbee Saturday afternoon, and the Cammie game Saturday night. Sunday, then, will be full of recovering. And Jesi comes back sometime in the midst of all of this. Hurrah! :)
My agenda for tonight: buy milk and more popcorn. Finish the last two beanbags. Try to get the quilt at least preliminarily bound around the edges, if not completely done. Maybe finish that other Jayne hat. Maybe go say hi to Bobert when he gets in on the train, especially as the train station is like 2 blocks from my apartment. Go to bed early and sleep well. :) .

Argh... work today has been hectic and crazy, though most of that has been since lunch. I'm off work Wednesday, and the boss is leaving for a trip and won't be here Friday, so I guess it makes a little bit of sense. Gotta cram everything into three days this week.
It also figures, because I had a great weekend, so work automatically becomes suckier. Got to watch X-3, Boondock Saints, and the first season of Red vs. Blue, all on Saturday. Also got to have a couple of great conversations, and played some frisbee. And I might be getting a kitten. Like really really soon.
So yeah, it's a mix of kewl stuff and annoying work... I think I'll live. Less than 2 hours left of work, at which point I get to go home, make some dinner and wash the dishes, do a little bit of sewing on the machine, and then probably spend the rest of the evening chatting online, which has yet again become a favored pasttime... wonder why... ;)
Tomorrow, I get to go to the 6-6-6 party / goth night at the Upstairs. This should be a rockin' good time. I know 3 of the 5 DJs, and another of them is from C-dale originally... I think I may have met her at Rasputina, now that I think about it... hopefully the gamer geek crowd will be out in full force, and I can chat with them, and perhaps dance a little. Perhaps. :)
In the meantime, more work to do, as always... *sigh*... .

Wandering around at the mall last night, we ended up in a toy store... and as everyone knows, you put three quasi-adults in a toy store, they will play for hours on end. Well, maybe not hours on end, but I do have some evidence of a time-stealing black hole at the mall. I think we were there for about two hours all told, and I REALLY don't know where the time went, especially as we were only in three stores in that time.
Anyways, the toy store. Oh. My. God. There was a lot of silly stuff that I didn't care to look at there, but there were also a bunch of toys that I remembered from when I was a kid (and the inevitable point was brought up that the difference between when I was a kid and when the guys I was shopping with were kids was huge... *sigh*...) and then reproductions of a lot of even OLDER toys. So I am very much looking forward to my niece and nephew getting a little bit older, so that they can play with some of the neat toys I found there.
I did not, however, find a goose, and I was actually looking for a small stuffed goose. It has to do with a game. :)
Actually, right now, it's just all about me being a big kid, because I also got some new TMBG stuff last night (stuff I ordered a while back), and one of those was the "Here Come the ABC's" CD, which is VERY much meant for small children. I like it anyways.
And then I stayed up way past my bedtime. :p .
