Things Calm Down

All dates below refer to in-game time.
There's Something in the Water
Apr. 17-21, 1997
SN: I was pretty annoyed about the PCs avoiding one of my major neat enemies in the previous story, so I brought him back! This was a variation on the Aabat Kindred presented in Berlin by Night - I made them a bit less deadly, but who needs to do that when you've got a bio-chemist in the group?!?
Upon finding Matthew's crocodile chewing on a strangely bloated body in the sewers, the Archons look to track down the person or creature that killed this person. They eventually encounter a strange snake-like creature that was a former minion of Duanshe (the gargoyle in the previous story). After analyzing the poison that he uses as a defense mechanism, James reconstructs both the poison (a very strong paralytic) and an antidote. Matthew Blood Binds the creature to himself, and names him Serpentor.

Party on Yiaros
Apr. 30-May 4, 1997
SN: This was my end-of-the-semester story, which allowed a couple of my friends who weren't usually in the group to game with us, and to send off my players who were going home for the summer. It ended up being one of the more amusing stories I ran!
The Archons are invited to vacation on the island of Yiaros, owned by a Ventrue, Anushin Rawin. While there, they meet Lydie, a former friend of Derek's; Cermak, Talon's Sire; Michael, a metis Ragabash Black Fury; Cecilia, Thomas' Sire; and Phantomas, an ancient Nosferatu working on Kindred genealogy. They also re-meet some earlier associates, particularly Brittne and Arthur. After picking on Alfredo incessantly, Matthew is singled out for 'fixing' by the Malkavians - they convince Brittne to put a 'happiness ring' on Matthew, which makes him stop being such an evil jerk (with the unfortunate side effect of making him brutally honest). Thomas leaves for the summer with Cecilia, and Brittne moves to Dallas with the Archons.

Ghosts in Hiccup's House
May 6-7, 1997
SN: This part of the story was really just us waiting for one player to arrive, but it ended up being fairly interesting. It kept coming back to haunt them for a while longer (no pun intended).
Upon her arrival in Dallas, Brittne realizes that there is something very strange and creepy about the room which she is inhabiting. After briefly investigating on their own, Anneke calls the Giovanni, who drive the spirits out of the house, with the promise that the Archons will owe them a future favor.
Related out of game stuff: The Phoenix Society is in the process of moving into Dallas under the name T.N. Fenix Corporation. Obis, Sera, and Paco fail in their attempt to overthrow the Sabbat of Detroit; Paco is destroyed. Anneke, Narconti, Cat, and Drue (who is beginning his testing to become an Archon) retrieve them before they can be tortured for information; Sera is sent to the Tremere council in Vienna, and Obis is brought back to Dallas, staked.

Sleeping late isn't good for you!
May 16-25, 1997
SN: You just can't have a perfectly well-behaved Nosferatu, especially when he was formerly as evil as they come! The Archons were actually quite ready to kill their now-nice Nosferatu, just to make him stay good!
After waking up in a pool of someone else's blood, Matthew comes to the conclusion that he is not in full control of his body. After some investigation and high-tech surveillance, the Archons come to the conclusion that the "friendly" ring doesn't affect Matthew's subconscious urges. Therefore, they have it altered to make him completely nice.

Satan's Night Out
June 10-14, 1997
SN: Yes, the title of this one is a bad rip-off from "The Vampire Lestat," by Anne Rice. That was sorta the point, but my players just thought it was silly!
The Archons are sent to Phoenix to investigate and stop a band whose lyrics and on-stage activities proclaim that they are Vampires. After sneaking backstage, the Archons bully the band into submission, and then take them back home with them. Hiccup Blood Binds the leader of the group, a 12th generation Caitiff who had Embraced the rest of the group.

Investigating Fenix / Ashe Lake Monster
June 14-22, 1997
SN: Early on in this chronicle, the PCs had been introduced to the Phoenix Corporation. Players being much more perceptive than Storytellers want to admit, mine figured out right away that T.N. Fenix (pronounced with a short 'e') was a cover for the anarch organization. Okay, so they were right. I just didn't let them know that for a while! :)
The rest of this story was really their first run in with were-creatures. But since I didn't feel like killing any of the players just then, I let them talk their way out of combat with the Mokole!

While waiting for a new assignment, the Archons investigate the T.N. Fenix Corporation, apparently unrelated to their standard duties. They are then sent to Ashe Lake, Mississippi, to investigate a string of murders over the past decade. They discover that the culprit is a strangely deformed Gangrel by the name of Croc and his friends, the Mokole. After discovering that Croc really doesn't have bad intentions, but is just highly deranged, they bring him back to Dallas to undergo hypnosis and therapy; the Mokole are put on a bus bound for the bayous of New Orleans.

Archons v. Anarchs
June 30-July 5, 1997
SN: Although the story itself wasn't particularly memorable, the ending was one of the best we ever had, and it is still the one that everyone likes to talk about. Especially Derek and his 20+ dice damage roll for shooting someone point blank, with a sniper rifle, after aiming for several minutes, through the head of an illusion of Talon! And you wonder why we won't shut up about it!
Kyle, the leader of Satan's Night Out, wants to find his Sire, Crimson, so the Archons head to the Anarch free states to find her. Once they find her, Hiccup "seduces" her with Dominate and begins working on a Blood Bond with her, while the rest of the group looks on in amazement. After a close call while escaping from a motel room, the group begins grilling Crimson and planning their attack on the rest of her anarch gang, the Blood Roses. While James and Matthew rig up an impressive method of killing only the Vampire members of the gang, Talon and Derek lure Burgoyne, a suspected member of the Phoenix Society, to an abandoned warehouse, where he is destroyed (see notes, above).

Brittne wants a Toy!
July 10-15, 1997
SN: I'm proud to say that this was my kid sister's first experience playing Vampire (well, she played Brittne), and she had a really good time. She even went home and tried to start her own chronicle! As soon as she has the books, it ought to get better! :)
Brittne gets in contact with a Mage in Alexandria, Egypt, who offers her a specially crafted focus (an intricately carved and decorated bone) in exchange for a few books from her extensive library. After making the exchange and leaving the exchange site, the bone is stolen, sending the Archons to Cairo on a search for Brittne's missing toy and the girl who stole it. After trying to track down the thief, who they learn is a Mage of a lost tradition, they are eventually contacted by one of the Kindred of the Cairo, Nigel Lloyd-Stephens, who offers to sell them the bone for a steep price. While Talon distracts him, Matthew knocks him out, and they bury him in the foundation of a building which is under construction.

Invasion of the Relative Snatchers
July 28-30, 1997
SN: From the beginning, we had worked up information about the family members of the Archons. Some of the members of my group were a lot more protective of their families than others... Talon perhaps the most out of everyone!
Talon receives a phone call from her contact in Leipzig, who informs her that several of her grand-nieces and nephews have been kidnapped, while on a school outing. The Archons proceed to Germany, where they investigate the park from which the children were kidnapped. They find one of the kidnappers, from whom they try to force information. The kidnapper kills himself, so the Archons find his wallet and go to his house, which is a mostly abandoned Enrathi (Black Hand ghoul family) estate. They journey to the Shadowlands, where they try to fit in as they collect the various children who have been kidnapped. In the end, they are helped in their efforts by Arianna, a Lasombra antitribu member of the Black Hand.
