The End

All dates below refer to in-game time.

Mardi Gras Murders
Feb. 18-24, 1998
SN: I guess by this point, I was a little bit tired of the Archons always "winning," so to speak. Their rate of solving cases was close to 100 percent, despite my best efforts to out think them. So I wrote a story that specifically did not have the Archons being successful. Only way to do that… Anneke pulls them out early!
The Archons are invited to Mardi Gras by Prince Marcel Guilbeau and 'Daniel' (actually his brother Jereaux Guilbeau, Derek Malone’s Sire), ostensibly for vacation. While visiting New Orleans, they run into a lot of their old associates. After a mortal closely associated with the Prince is murdered, the Archons are asked to investigate. However, they are forced to leave without solving the case, per Anneke's request.

Werewolf in Indianapolis
Feb. 27-28, 1998
SN: I think I knew by this point that things were going to be wrapping up sooner or later… after all, I knew I would be moving away from Kirksville (*sniffle sniffle*) in a few months, and would only be taking one of my players with me when I moved. When you’ve run a chronicle for going on two years, sometimes you just have to do some weird stuff to mix things up a little bit. Going out with a bang, more or less…
The Archons are sent to investigate a man who claims to be a werewolf and the company which apparently caused him to become such. While investigating this case, Anneke is summoned to Europe and the Archons are temporarily (?) dismissed from their duties, while she defends herself about questions on her methods. With this, the investigation comes to an abrupt close, and the Archons return to Dallas. Kristopher Johnson, the 'werewolf' stays with Jane and becomes Bachir Murphy.
Upon their return to Dallas, most of the Archons go their separate ways. Deiter Embraces Jere and they go to St. Louis. Derek goes to his old apartment in St. Louis. Hiccup goes to Baltimore and poses as a Toreador. James and Nichole go to stay in Europe with Karl Schrecht. Jane and her family go to St. Louis. Talon goes to Europe, 'Abraham' comes back and stays with Narconti.

Return to Chicago
March 25-27, 1998
SN: I have always drawn a close connection between myself and the NPC Elise Marshall (she was a variation on one of my early characters) - thus I made her "Death-day" (the day she was Embraced) the same day as my birthday! *sigh* My jokes usually are completely lost when it comes to other people... I don't think my players caught it until I flat-out told them why it amused me so much...
During a visit to St. Louis for Prince Elise Marshall's death day party, Rachel Chryander, a St. Louis Toreador, is kidnapped. The Archons, as a favor to Elise, track her down to Chicago and a Sabbat pack; the pack is destroyed.

New Proposals
March 28-April 10, 1998
SN: A lot of this story was just an attempt to kill some more time before getting into the finale. Originally, the game was slated to last until July of 1998, as I was moving in August of 1998. As things worked out, this story ran pretty close to the dates it represented… meaning the chronicle was about to end a bit earlier than planned…
Richard Weston, the Ventrue Justicar, offers Derek and Talon positions on his team. Karl Schrecht, the Tremere Justicar, makes a similar offer to James; Justin Carter, the Malkavian Justicar, requests Henri/Hiccup’s services; and Jasmyne, the Brujah Justicar, approaches Jane and Deiter about working for her. In the meantime, Derek rescues Blaine Stone, a young Tremere in St. Louis, from being sent to Vienna with her Sire. Henri somehow gets sucked through the mirror and visits Brittne's horizon realm. Bachir ‘wolfs out’ again and Jane gets James to start working out an antidote.

The End of the World As We Know It
April 15-22, 1998
SN: "It’s the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine…" I suppose some of my players would have been upset to know that I named the finale after an R.E.M. song, but it fit so well. This last story got pretty far fetched, but, like I said before, going out with a bang! And boy, did we ever!
Anneke 'disappears' from Narconti's mental link, so he takes the original five Archons (Cat, Derek, Talon, Hiccup, and James) to Europe to try to find her. While there, they visit Amsterdam, Paris, and Freiburg (the town where Anneke and Narconti lived before their Embrace). The Archons experience strange dreams about Anneke and their relatives, particularly the young girls possessing the mark of the moon. The Archons and Narconti find Anneke at the abbey where Riconek, Anneke and Narconti’s mortal son, was raised. After making a mad dash from the abbey, through a full-pitched battle between scores of supernaturals, Anneke tells the Archons that they need to go together to get the girls and take them to Hunnendora Castle. Gehenna has begun, and the girls are the only hopes of averting the disaster. In the middle of everything, Anneke is reinstated as Justicar. After collecting the girls, they perform a ritual at Hunnendora Castle which averts Gehenna and wipes out everyone's memory of the events, except those who participated in the ritual. Anneke resigns as Justicar and takes the girls back to the estate to raise. As a fluke of the ritual, Wendy, who was less than 2 years old previously, now appears to be 12 years old.
