Random ramblings cuz I have nothing better to do... or something... :)
This is the site formerly known as Anneke's Haven. Within, you will find information about my previous White Wolf chronicles, and other random gaming related stuff. I also have a blog here, where I talk about pretty much everything and anything, though it's primarily about my exciting life... the definition of exciting definitely being up for debate.
Enjoy your visit, and come back soon!

I'm not sure if I'm simply that unobservant, or what, but I've noticed that I can watch a movie several times, and still notice something new every time I watch it.

I suspect that I just overlook some of the details in movies that I don't watch intently and regularly. The movie that brought this to my attention was "V for Vendetta," which I ranted mightily about when it came out. Any rate, I got over my rant (sorta) and bought it on DVD, and we watch it occasionally.

Last night, I noticed that in the scene where V takes Evey up to the roof in the rain, it's interspersed with scenes of V coming out of the fire--so the moment of true freedom for both characters. Of course, what's also interesting about this is that he was freed by fire (both literally and metaphorically), while Evey was metaphorically released by the rain.

But the point is that I really didn't remember the scenes of V in the fire being interlaced into that scene. So it was really odd, and I sat there wondering if the scenes had just "appeared" (highly doubtful), or I had really missed them. I think I've settled on that I had forgotten they were there, because I didn't really find that scene all that interesting previously. Now, of course, I see the connections that the filmmakers were trying to draw in that scene, and I'm mildly impressed.

Jerome has a copy of the graphic novel checked out from the library right now, because he hasn't read it yet. It's due back to the library on Thursday, so I told him he should read it today, if he was going to read it. I think he will soon share in my general disdain for the adaptation of that graphic novel into movie format.

However, I think he'll still like the movie for what it is, and I have to admit that I have grown to appreciate the movie for what it is. But I maintain that it should have been called "Loosely Inspired by the Events Surrounding Alan Moore's V for Vendetta." That's a much more accurate title. :)

Surprisingly busy weekend, for feeling like I didn't really do a lot. I suspect that I really did, I just always feel like I didn't do much. Jerome worked for the majority of the weekend, so I sat around at the apartment quite a bit. :)

But I made a bunch of new cards made to list on Etsy, and I got some clothes listed on eBay. Not much writing mixed in there, because I just couldn't make myself sit down and write. I need to, though, because I've still got a few articles to write for Shop Etsy. Once those are done, I need to start scouting for more folks who are interested in having profiles done of their shops. Shouldn't be too hard, most Etsy sellers love publicity. :)

I've discovered a couple of gaming related things over the weekend. One is that it's much more fun to be an Eshu when you're out and about, getting into trouble with other Eshu. :) (I'm also anxiously awaiting my background XP for that character, so that I can buy some more abilities and such, because I'm kinda sad and pathetic right now. :) )

The second realization is that I really don't like the Camarilla, at least not when it is run correctly in a large LARP setting. It's very much anti-Democratic sensibilities (speaking in terms of the government system, not the political party). The little guys can't do a damn thing. :(

That being said, I think I'm gonna switch over to the Werewolf game that runs at the same time as the Camarilla game. Jerome is undecided at the moment if he wants to join me there, switch characters in the Cam game, or stick it out with his Malkavian. I told him to do what he wants to do in this case, because though I love gaming with him, our characters tend to not really get along, so it's not so much gaming with each other as gaming near each other. :)

Not sure what's going on this week, but next Monday is Labor Day, so hurrah upcoming long weekend! :)

Ugh... Friday, and I'm already bored type person. I finished the big project that I was working on yesterday afternoon, and thus I have pretty much nothing on my plate for today. Well, there's some filing to do, which I'll get to in a bit, I suppose. :)

Tonight, we get to run a few errands, and maybe I'll get to write my background for my Vampire character. Tomorrow, I need to write some more articles for Shop Etsy, and then I've got Changeling and Vampire in the evening. Sunday should be mostly laid back, as per the usual. I'm mostly just hoping that if it does rain on Saturday again, that it won't be as cold, or that I'll be better dressed for it. Last Sunday I was all kinds of miserable with a bit of a cold. Luckily, it went away pretty quickly. :)

Well, at least it looks like it will be a lovely day today. I just wish there was a park where Jerome and I could have lunch on Fridays. He only gets half an hour for lunch on Fridays, so I will be taking him his lunch at his school, but being able to meet at a park half way would be so much nicer when it's all lovely out. :)

What is it with me and mismatched armwarmers? Seriously? I already had one mismatched pair in my Etsy shop, because I didn't have enough of the blue yarn to make two armwarmers, and had to improvise. (And then I made a hat that used both colors to justify it.) Now, another pair (the pictured pair) don't match either, and I started a third pair last night that look to be the closest matching pair so far, but they are not quite 100% matching either!

Am I the only freak who wants to wear things on my arms that don't match? I've seen other people do it, so I'm thinking I'm not the only one. :) But then again, my fashion sense and the rest of the world's fashion sense are usually a wee bit at odds with one another.

(Conversation of this morning:
Me: "Why don't any of my olive drabs match?"
Jerome: "Because they're baby puke colored."
Me: "So? I like olive drab!")

At any rate, hurrah for new stuff in the Etsy shop, I suppose, even if it is mismatched. There's also a hat that matches the armwarmers... no, for real it matches. :)

Hurrah also for swapping stuff I wouldn't have ever used for stuff that I am using. After the EtsyRain swap, I had a bag of all kinds of yarn--normal acrylic yarn, super bulky acrylic, some crazy synthetic yarns, and a few Italian wool blends (the really pricy stuff!). Now I'm turning all of this stuff into more stuff for my shop. Hurrah! :)

Well, we ended up skipping the Creepshow show last night. Between the fact that a) I had been exhausted since Sunday, and really didn't think it was a good idea to stay out till 1 a.m., and b) we found out that the lead singer we are used to left the band after they recorded the album, to be replaced by her little sister, it just seemed not as important to go.

I think we definitely made the right choice on the first point, as I'm feeling much less tired today! :) It is a bummer that we didn't see them, but ah well. We'll have another chance some other time. I felt a little bad because I had already bought the tickets, but they were pretty cheap. No more buying tickets in advance unless I know we're gonna go to the show and/or it's definitely going to sell out ahead of time.

Nice quiet evenings at home are always a good thing, at any rate. I got caught up on a few things while we watched "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and then a bit of L.A. Ink, and Jerome got to spend his day off (completely off from work and school!) just chilling out. :)
